Have you seen this scene: A man is asked by someone to jump for ten times, crawl on the floor then roll over like a dog? Some have this in mind as the picture of hypnosis. Actually- it is not the truth. What is hypnosis then?
Hypnosis is, in fact, a natural state of heightened awareness, focused attention and, often, deep relaxation. This experience is called the alpha state”. In the alpha state” our brain wave frequency is slower than when awake, but faster than when we’re asleep. According to different academic studies, the old misconceptions are now eradicated and the fact that all forms of hypnosis are really self-hypnosis is now paving the way to deeper understanding.
For others, hypnosis is the exit to stress because it is a way of relaxation. According to experts, hypnosis depends on how the recipient accepts it- whether deep or shallow it depends on him or her.
Nowadays, hypnosis has brought wonders to a lot of people all over the world and it has been the source of all that could be relied on as solutions. Many who were able to accept hypnosis as a deep process were able to see for themselves the goodness behind it and the light at the end of the tunnel.

Most readers would probably have heard or read Napoleon Hill’s highly acclaimed “Think And Grow Rich”. Many people have also claimed that the book changed their way thinking and have seen their personal wealth grow.

Scientists have long known that your subconscious is completely neutral and impartial and it will carry out any instructions you give it by your conscious or logical mind. That means that you can use the law of attraction to attract love, to lose or gain weight, attract wealth, quit smoking or whatever you desire. To skeptics, this sounds too good to be true but to believers, there are too many anecdotal evidence that the law of attraction works without any exception is difficult to ignore.
Unfortunately, many of us are still running negative programs we picked up from others as children when our subconscious minds were totally open and impressionable, or which we have developed over the years as a result of repetition of our own negative thinking.
Yes, many of you may say to me that you have been thinking of losing weight, but is still getting fatter. You see, when you are thinking of losing weight, you are using your conscious mind, but what is your subconscious mind thinking? Here are some examples :-
a) I am fat, therefore I need to lose weight – This thinking cancels out each other. Yes, you want to lose weight, but you are also thinking about being fat. The law of attraction does not react to whether you want it or do not want it, it just delivers to you what you are thinking and focused on and in this instance, you are thinking about being fat as well as losing weight.
b) My family members are fat, so I am genetically programed to be fat – I don’t need to explain this further. It is a self limiting thought and guess what? If you think that you are programed to be fat, then you are. You won’t be doing anything to change the status quo because you will think that it is useless to do so subconsciously. Simple as that.
c) I wish to be thin – Now merely wishing is not good enough, the law of attraction will just entertain your wish. You will always be wishing and wishing and wishing.
d) It is difficult to lose weight – Then you will never lose weight because it will always be difficult for you to lose weight.
So when you do not lose weight even if you have always wanted to, it could be because of your self limiting subconscious thoughts and there could even be hundreds if not thousands of negative programming in our subconscious mind not only in the subject of physical body shape but on other matters such as wealth, health, love and the list goes on.
These negative beliefs are programed into our subconscious mind and most of the time we do not even know that they are there sabotaging us. These thoughts then become our beliefs, habits and automatic behavior.
To change your end results, you need to overwrite the negative programing and instill new positive programing into your subconscious mind. If you are getting more of the same or negative results in your life such as not being able to attract more wealth, good health or the body shape you desire, then you have probably been unconsciously running old negative programs and reinforcing them with daily negative thought patterns.
There are many techniques you can use to get rid of limiting beliefs and negative thoughts such as using goal setting, affirmations and creative visualizations.
I will not describe in detail how these methods work here as books have been written on them. However, from personal experiences, the best method is to use self hypnotism to get rid of these negative programing.

What is it about weight loss that is so elusive? Obesity rates soar, so many people feel increasingly more uncomfortable, and yet something seems to keep stopping people from losing weight? Why is effective and long term weight loss such a difficult nut to crack for what would seem to be the majority of the population?
The irony to many is that they do not enjoy the food which they are consuming. They enjoy the idea of it, but do not even enjoy the experience of savoring it. For some a sign which indicates a large portion is an instant pull, for others it is a particular taste, be it chocolate or cheese. And a few just find that the idea of food, no matter what type, taste or size, is just a magnet to their soul.
The opposite is true as well about some types of food. You could have an aversion to oysters, vodka, or an entire type of food, perhaps seafood. These are just examples, of course. Such aversions are only rarely caused by an actual allergy to that type of food; rather, this aversion is based on experience. I mentioned vodka, because this alcoholic drink is often the one drunk by youngsters in the UK, and often abused and consumed to excess. Vodka seems to be most popular with the younger generation as it has so little taste. It’s therefore easy to drink and to get drunk upon.
When one gets drunk, one can have a very unpleasant experience, feeling sick, getting sick, and more and more frequently these days ending up in the care of the emergency services. With such a highly emotional experience it is very easy for one’s mind to record this as something bad and in effect to “red flag” it and create a subsequent aversion to the cause – vodka. As my partner just commented, it’s a shame that alcohol in general is not red flagged!
Your mind has the ability to make both positive and negative associations with specific types of food and alcohol, and more generalized categories of edible items, some of which you will be aware of the root cause and some of which you will not be aware of. These associations are very rarely based on taste and certainly not upon pure hunger. They are based instead on emotional connections due to one’s experiences and observations.
Have you analyzed your feelings about food? Do you enjoy the taste and texture, the sight, the sensation of crunchiness or smoothness in your mouth? Do you see how long you can savor each taste for, or just gulp down each spoonful without full awareness? Do you take time to place your knife and fork down upon the table and become aware of how your tummy feels? Have you worked out what eating excess food does for you in a positive way, or is it merely habit?
Apply these questions to alcohol as well as to food, seeing as both involve calorific intake. Why do you drink vodka instead of Gin, and so on? And why do you have just one glass, or two, or a bottle? Is it taste, or perhaps environment, or just pure habit?
Everyone is different; everyone lives in accordance with their own experiences and expectations of life. There are also cultural influences upon what, when and how we eat. “Why” is a great question to ask in order to get to the root of any habit which you are the subject of. If you habitually eat too much, then ask yourself “why?” If you habitually have a sweet tooth then ask yourself “why?” And listen internally to the first answer which pops into your mind, and ask “why” once againâand so on. This, to most, is an extremely enlightening experience.
The next question to ask is “what can I do in order to change?” This, of course, assumes that you do indeed want to change. And this can be the crux of the matter. Perhaps you feel more comfortable being a few pounds overweight, either consciously or subconsciously. Perhaps it is “safer” or more “normal” to be overweight. For so many people, an inner conflict is experienced over the desire to have the perfect weight versus the desire to “fit in”. And this desire to “fit in” can be a fitting in with one’s perception of themselves or a fitting in with how they see their immediate environment. Culture and personal expectations are intertwined and unless you keep asking yourself “why” you will not get to the root of your own pathway to successful weight loss.
At the end of the day, no matter what answers you come up with, a certain amount of mind retraining is needed in order to change. It is acknowledged (and proven) that 90% of success in sport is rooted in one’s mind. This equation is reflective of the success of almost anything in life. And effective weight loss is no exception. 90% of successful, long term, effective weight loss and subsequent balance is in your MIND.

Weight loss happens in a similar way whether you risk the dangers of gastric band surgery or go it alone, losing weight naturally through adjusting to a healthier lifestyle, diet and exercise. After you have had gastric band surgery you still have to adjust the foods you eat and drastically reduce the portion sizes. So why not just do that, and lose weight naturally, instead of subjecting your body to the trauma of surgery?
