Self Hypnosis Power Of The Subconscious Mind by Richard MacKenzie
Self Hypnosis is a subject which evokes a million responses from a million different people. Some feel overawed by it, yet others are plain scared of it; some others seem skeptical about it, and yet others are what we know as believers? Have you ever found yourself wondering what Self Hypnosis is all about? Have you been intrigued by the success stories you have heard, but never thought you could benefit from it?
Various people may have various reactions to self-hypnosis, however the fact remains that it is fast emerging as a field of science which can prove beneficial in successfully addressing a myriad problems in anyone’s life. Contrary to popular belief it is not about seeing a magician” or getting help”, it’s about being self empowered. Self hypnosis is about taking the responsibility of bringing about changes in your life, in your own hands. It is meant for anyone who wants to work at changing aspects of their personality, or habits that they have formed.
At my practice in Oxfordshire I am often asked to describe what self-hypnosis is. I often find myself telling my clients that it is nothing but the awakening and strengthening of our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is more powerful than we can ever imagine, and it’s high time we gave it, its due. Self-hypnosis is all about connecting our conscious mind, with the subconscious mind. It’s like making two long lost friends meet each other. Or better still, it’s like helping two spouses who often miss connecting with each other on a busy day, reconnect with each other. In order to master the art of awakening our subconscious mind, it is necessary that we take out time from our hectic schedules to talk to it, to coax it to blossom into its full glory.
I often equate the process of self-hypnosis as something that is as similar to driving a car. When we first learn to drive it, we are careful about all the maneuvers that we need to make to have a smooth ride…push the accelerator, release the clutch, steady the wheel. When we first begin, it seems like we would be reduced to nothing but nervous wrecks while driving; however, as time passed and driving became a routine, most of us did not pay even the slightest attention to the strategies required to drive a car. Because we function on something called auto-pilot. The act of driving, and all the maneuvers associated with it are so well imprinted in our minds, that we do not need to put in a conscious effort. It has by default become a part of the subconscious mind. Self-hypnosis too, is related to the subconscious and it requires practice. There is a certain amount of discipline required to awaken our sleeping subconscious.
Self Hypnosis is basically a means of letting your subconscious mind communicate with your conscious mind. We can only establish contact with our subconscious minds, when we relax and let our conscious mind take a back seat. Our subconscious mind has immense powers, and it can be mastered with routine practice. Once the programming has been done, our little computer functions automatically on the responses it has stored in early practice sessions.
With the help of self-hypnosis, you can successfully alter habits such as smoking, nervousness, drug or alcohol addiction. Similarly when it comes to personality development, use of self hypnosis can make you a more confident and assertive person, it can instill a positive self image, become a performance booster and even help make your life a better place to be in.
Research suggests that we only use about 10% of our subconscious’s total potential. So just imagine if we could put into the use rest 90% how different life could be!

The Origin And History Of Hypnosis by
Hypnosis or hypnotism is a psychological phenomenon of exceeding interest to both layman and scientist. Its history is as old as that of the human race, and it has been utilized by the most primitive of peoples, ancient and modern, in the practice of religious and medical rites to intensify belief in mysticism and magic. The striking character of this psychological manifestation, its inexplicable and bewildering phenomenology, and the seemingly miraculous results it produces.together with its long use for the bewilderment of the observer.have served to surround it with an aura of the supernatural and the unreal. As a consequence, the attitude of the general public toward this phenomenon, now scientifically established, has been, and too often still is, one of superstitious awe, misunderstanding, incredulity, antagonism, and actual hostility and fear. This attitude is perpetuated by the exploitation of hypnosis by the charlatan and the stage performer and the well-intentioned but mistaken and inadequate utilization by inexperienced experimenters and medical men.
The scientific history of hypnosis began about 1775 with Anton Mesmer, whose name is still attached to it, but unfortunately, even this scientific beginning was founded on a mystical belief that it was constituted of a peculiar cosmic fluid with healing properties. Mesmer.s use of hypnosis began with his discovery that suggestion in various forms could be used to induce a condition resembling sleep in certain types of patients, and that, in this state, therapeutic suggestions could be given to alleviate and even remedy their complaints and symptoms. Unfortunately, Mesmer failed to recognize the purely psychological character of his discovery and attributed it to a cosmic force he termed .animal magnetism.. Although Mesmer successfully treated large numbers of patients on whom orthodox medical procedures had failed, he fell into disrepute because of the mysticism with which he surrounded his therapy. Nevertheless, his discovery and utilization of it served to lay a foundation for the therapeutic use of hypnosis and for a recognition of the validity of psychotherapy as a medical procedure.
Since Mesmer’s time there has been a succession of scientific men, chiefly medical, who have contributed greatly to its scientific growth. Elliotson, the first British physician to use a stethoscope, used hypnosis effectively about 1817 in his medical practice and published extensively on its suitability for certain types of patients. Esdaile, through Elliotson’s writings, became so interested that he succeeded in having a government hospital built in India primarily for the use of hypnosis, where he extended its use to all types of patients, especially surgical.
In 1841 James Braid, an English physician who bitterly opposed .mesmerism,. was induced to make a physical examination of a mesmerized subject. He recognized both the validity of the phenomenon and its psychological character, with the result that he coined the terms hypnosis and hypnotism and initiated the first scientific studies of hypnosis as a psychological condition of extensive medical and scientific significance. Since then, clinicians first and psychologists later, among them many outstanding scientists, have contributed increasingly to a better understanding and utilization of hypnosis as a scientific tool and as a medical procedure of immense value for certain types of patients. Particularly has interest been developing rapidly during the last 25 years among psychiatrists and psychologists. During the last 15 years there has been an increasing wealth of publications dealing with the effective use of hypnosis in the fields of psychiatry and experimental psychology.
Regrettably, however, there is still a persistence of outmoded ideas and concepts of hypnosis which vitiate experimental studies and therapeutic efforts. For example, some psychologists are still publishing studies based upon techniques and psychological concepts belonging to the 19th century, and some medical men still employ it for direct symptom relief rather than as an educative procedure for the correction of personality disorders.
As yet the scientific study of hypnosis is still in its infancy despite the development of a healthy, intense interest in it as a scientific problem of merit. There is still lacking an adequate general appreciation of the need to integrate hypnotic studies with our presentday concepts and understandings of personality, of inter- and intrapersonal relationships, and psychosomatic interrelationships and interdependencies.

The Luminous Hypnosis Truthfulness Undisguised by gottapays
Hypnosis is another way to shoot up your self esteem. The very root of all the negative things you think and say about yourself is in your unconscious mind. You can get to the root of it all by accessing that part of your mind with hypnosis. You will be able to reinstate all of the negative thoughts with healthier, more unequivocal thoughts. As a result, you will observe refreshed, gentle, and much better about yourself.
Hypnosis is a state of keen consciousness. The subject is wide-awake and mindful of everything around her. This misinterpretation stems from the stage hypnotist’s use of the word “sleep” as concurrent to the hypnotic state. When the old time hypnotist swung the watch in front of the subject’s face, he told the subject that she was getting “somnolent.” He then told the subject to go to sleep. What he meant was to go into a hypnotic sleep; not a natural sleep.
If you try something and it doesn’t work, then you get wary and start to expect the next approach to be insufficient. And you get what you have in mind?. Do you really think that the same exact commands will work for all the world? Do you think that they will work for you? Do you usually do exactly as you are told? Or do you feel the desire to do the unrelated of what you are told to do?
After some sessions of hypnotherapy, you would also learn that over time, your copartner will respond subconsciously and will also improve your relationship, even if he/she is not participating actively in answer with the present issues that you are trying to predominate! This means that even if your other half is not interested in going with you for therapy, they can still be affected by it and change for the better. If this is the case you will terribly be shown techniques that will allow your partner to take notice of the process and necessity to join in.
Can the Hypnotist make me Divulge my secrets?
You will not affect any secrets while in hypnosis unless you want to do so. The hypnotist does not have any jurisdiction over the subject. Quite the opponent, the subject has more control over herself since at this time she has control over her own subconscious mind. The subject can easily suppress any suggestion the hypnotist makes, no matter how simple or sophisticated the suggestion might be. The subject can open her eyes, emerge from the state of hypnosis, and walk out of the room at any time she chooses.

Why Many People Are Turning To Satellite Radio For Their Music by Gregg Hall
The two things people love the most about satellite radio are: quality and content. These two things are also the very things that encourage people to go out and buy a new system. So what if it costs $300 for a satellite radio receiver, and another $13 per month for subscriptions. The benefits of satellite radio far out weigh the price!
High Audio Quality
Satellite radio quality is more than just the overall value of the product. It is also how clear, uninterrupted, and flawless the satellite signal is. This new technology provides all the radio you could possibly desire without messy static, and having to change the channel during a commute. The high analog-to-digital conversion means that you can listen to the radio without all that creepy hissing, dead air, and other frustrating audio interference.
The digital quality of the service, in technical terms, is 128kb/s 44.1 kHz. For you technologically impaired and non-number minded folks, that means that when you listen to it, it’s like listening to a CD, only you don’t have to mess with unwrapping it.
Almost Limitless Content
When digital television hit the market, people were scrambling over each other trying to get their hands on it. More of the same for satellite radio, but unlike its visual counterpart, this is commercial free. That means exactly what it sounds like; no one interrupts your listening pleasure to try and sell you acne cream or hypnosis.
Satellite radio content is more than just local radio stations pawning off what other people think is good music on you. With the new non terrestrial radio you can listen to what makes you happy, what puts you in a good mood, what suits you as a person. You don’t have to listen to Hip Hop, Country, or R&B if all you want to hear is Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Content is also where the main two companies are fighting for your favor. XM may offer more of what you want to hear than Sirius, and/or vice versa. Before subscribing you should take the time to find out which one would give you more content for your buck.
Satellite radio is playing dirty. Each company is fighting for the exclusive rights to broadcast certain programs and transmissions on their radio systems. Not only are they fighting for programs, but also people!
Satellite radio is making great strides for its customers. The companies know that if you are willing to pay the money for a receiver, and then pay a month subscription fee, they should be willing to give you the absolute best programming they can offer. So why tie yourself down to earthbound radio stations when you can reach for the stars with the new technology?

How You Can Affect Your Body Through Hypnosis by
Did you know that hypnosis can be used to affect your physical body? There are countless cases of mysterious phenomenon that have occurred when people are under the influence of hypnosis. For instance sharp pins can be inserted through the skin without causing bleeding or even leaving a mark. Stigmata (displaying the wounds of Christ on your body) have been, on many occasions, the result of unconscious suggestions being accepted while in a trance like state. Burns can be made to appear on the skin and warts and other skin conditions can be made to vanish within hours.
It is almost synonymous with hypnosis to imagine a person entering a trance state and becoming so ridged that they can be suspended between two chairs. The head of the subject would be placed on one chair while their feet would be placed on another with no support in-between. During this hypnotic state it was possible for the hypnotist to sit or even stand on the subject! This practise has since been discontinued due to ethical reasons but it surely demonstrates the power of the human mind over the body.
Martial artists, such as the legendary shaolin monks, can perform amazing physical feats such as suspending themselves several feet off the ground by leaning their torso on the razor sharp tip of a sword. It is also possible under hypnosis to induce a state of trance and give commands to a subject that they can no longer feel any sensation in a given part of their body. These suggestions are so strong that such catalepsy can last for as long as an hour if the suggestion is not removed by the hypnotist! It is therefore no surprise that hypnosis has become an extremely popular tool for pain control. As an anaesthetic it can also be invaluable as it removes the need to introduce dangerous substances into the body as is the case with conventional treatments. Many expectant mothers now use hypno-birthing as an alternative to conventional pain control during child birth.
Another great example of the power of the mind over the body can be seen with Olympic athletes. Watch how many of them close their eyes and breathe very deeply just before a race. It has become a common practise for top athletes to perform their given task in their mind prior to actually undertaking the physical activity. Runners will quiet their minds and visualize every step of the race just before they go to the blocks. This technique is called Motor Neural Rehearsal and after countless studies it has a proven record of creating changes in the mind and body. It has been shown in scientific studies that when you imagine performing a physical task by visualizing the same motor neurons fire, in the same sequence, as they would if you were physically performing the activity. Your entire body responds as though you were actually physically performing the activity you are imagining.
When such mental activities are performed under hypnosis the effect becomes even more pronounced. Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between what you are imagining and what you are actually doing. This simple truth can be very powerful if used correctly. It can also be extremely damaging if you allow your imagination to run riot and envisage negative situations and scenarios.
Through the use of hypnotic trance and visualization it is possible for anyone to program their subconscious mind to help them perform better at any physical activity. It is possible to program yourself to behave in the same manner, mentally and physically, as that of a top athlete or sports professional. You can even improve your golf or tennis swing. In fact you can improve your skills at any sport or physical activity that you can think of. However the real benefit lies in the fact that you can also strengthen your immune system and even re-establish harmony within your bodily functions all through the power of hypnosis.
Can you think of any physical activities that you perform which may benefit from this life-changing mental process? Do you believe there is some area of your body that you could improve or strengthen? Do you think it’s possible that hypnosis could be the answer?

Understanding Trichotillomania is the First Step to Treating It by Naomi Mannino
Trichotillomania – Frequently Asked Questions
The hair loss disease Trichotillomania(TTM) is emotional in nature, leading to secret hair pulling (and hair loss) This is very often confusing to friends and family members. Understanding can go a long way in helping.
Q. How is this disease’s name pronounced?
A. Trichotillomania is pronounced trik’oh-till’oh-may’nee-ah. People call it “trich” or TTM, for short.
Q. What’s the difference between bald spots caused by Trichotillomania and those caused by another disease, such as alopecia areata?
A. A dermatologist is trained to feel for TTM and will suspect this disease if there is stubble in the bald spots, which suggests that hair is growing back because it was removed. The bald patches of alopecia areata patients feel smooth, as do pattern baldness spots, because hair is not growing back. A doctor will verify the disease by examining any bald patches through a scope to confirm hair growth.
Q. Why would anyone get into the habit of pulling out his or her own hair?
A. Trich is a strong compulsion to pull out hairs and can affect any head, facial or body hair, resulting in noticeable bald patches and serious hair loss in severe cases. This need to pull out hair is so strong that it goes far beyond a habit.
Q. How does someone “get” Trichotillomania?
A. Researchers are unsure how the compulsion starts, and they have found that trich can strike happy, well-adjusted people as often as emotionally disturbed or depressed people. It is an emotional disease and a compulsion, so it cannot be “caught” or spread among people. Usually the disease starts in early adolescence, with the typical first-time hair puller being around the age of 12. Many experts now think the disease is caused by an imbalance of brain chemicals.
Q. Does Trichotillomania affect men or women, or both?
A. The hair-pulling behavior affects approximately 1 in 50 people, and 90 percent of those with TTM are women, according to current statistics on the disease from the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC). Some experts think this is because symptoms are less noticeable in men with short hair and/or male pattern baldness. Men are also less likely to seek medical attention, so statistics may be skewed.
Q. Who can diagnose Trichotillomania?
A. A dermatologist is most often the doctor who will uncover secret hair pulling once hair loss or a skin or scalp rash from the pulling becomes a symptom. In addition, if the individual is referred to a mental health counselor, that person can confirm the emotional aspect of the disease. A hair replacement specialist will be able to help with a solution for hair pulling and subsequent hair loss, such as a wig.
Q. Can hair pulling be controlled?
A. In some patients, hair pulling is a strong compulsion and is unavoidable, but others can learn to control urges through willpower and awareness. Trich does not affect everybody to the same degree; in addition, some people pull scalp hair, others pull facial or body hair, and still others pull any and all hair.
Q. What are the current treatments for Trichotillomania?
A. Although no Trichotillomania treatment is effective for everyone, a number of treatment options have shown promise. Prescription medications and cognitive-behavioral therapy are the most successful options, although children and adolescents, in particular, have needs that are different from those of adults. Patients and doctors may need to experiment with varying combinations of treatments, medications and tools to find what works best on an individual basis.
Q. Are there alternative treatments to help reduce hair pulling?
A. Experts have found that depression is a contributing factor to the illness, so medication for depression symptoms can be helpful. In addition to medical treatment, many patients find relief through dietary changes, meditation, hypnosis, prayer, yoga and herbal remedies.
Q. Will hair that has been pulled out grow back?
A. In extreme cases of prolonged and severe hair pulling, hair loss can become permanent. In milder cases hair keeps regrowing, although facial hair such as eyelashes and eyebrows notoriously takes longer to grow back. A dermatologist can confirm hair follicle health and offer a prognosis for hair regrowth.
The best way to cover or hide bald patches is to solicit the help of a non-surgical hair replacement specialist. These experts can suggest a solution that covers just the bald patches, seamlessly, or they can provide for whole-head protection with a natural-looking, full-head wig. Sometimes, wearing a hair replacement can reduce the urge to pull and can help patients to feel and look better, but some patients have been known to pull even hair replacements. Check out the Trichotillomania Learning Center at www.trich.org for support groups, to help find a practitioner and to learn more about research on and treatments for TTM.

How to Protect Yourself From Negativity by Roseanna Leaton
There are negative influences to be found all around us in this world. Some people inexplicably wait for the next negative event seemingly with bated breath, whilst others, like me, do everything in their power to repel such influences.
I’m sure that you, like I, have come across people who seem to be surrounded by a black cloud of mood-dampening negativity, and the creepy feeling of that dark mist reaching its arms out to grab you makes you want to turn tail and flee! I sometimes have to stop myself from physically putting out my arms as a barrier against those dark and dreary vibes, or covering my ears so as to stop a negative droll from entering my hearing space. My body language must be screaming out, yelling at those vibes, telling them to get away from me; that I do not want to catch that contagious disease called negativity.
In my imagination, this really is what I am doing; I am holding up a stick and warding off that tenacious terrier dog, stopping it from nipping at my ankles, I’m covering my ears, turning my back, holding out a shield and generally putting on all of the mental armor I can find in my tool kit of mental skills which I carry in my back park wherever I may go. Sometimes I imagine that I am expanding, growing bigger and stronger and taller, whilst at the same time that black cloud of negativity is shrinking and fading and disappearing. And at other times I just imagine floating up into the air, with sunlight bathing me in warmth and comfort, and looking down upon that misty and murky fog from a great distance.
When I open that back-pack of mental skills, its great fun to see how they continually grow in number. I found the other day two new tools – a gun for paintballing and a laser gun, enabling me to “zap” negative influences and keep them well away from my comfort zone and prevent them from entering my personal space. A favorite of mine is a mirrored shield, which sends negative vibes straight back to whence they came. Another is a magic wand which can be used for many purposes, not just to turn annoying negative things into frogs. That magic wand can be used to send bright sparkles over to those who are brooding, black and moody, so as to brighten up their day as well.
Central of course to this theme of protecting yourself from negativity is to first ensure that your own habitual thoughts are positive and to have the confidence and self-belief to know that your own relaxed, happy and positive feelings and vibes will always prevail. It is from this solid core of inner confidence that your mental skills spring from. You can pad out your back-pack and enhance your mental skills through employment of your creative mind, which you can access and more fully utilize with the help of hypnosis.

The Secret of Youthfulness by Roseanna Leaton
Is the secret of youthfulness cosmetic surgery, or a good diet and exercise regime, a special “wonder” supplement? Or perhaps the secret is simply having good genes? What if the secret is nothing to do with any of these things, but is instead all in your mind? You may have read this quote by Goldie Hawn:-”Youthfulness is connected to the ability to see things new for the first time. So if your eyes still look at life with wonder, then you will seem young, even though you may not be chronologically young”.
How old is old? How young is young? Why do some people feel young and others old? It’s not to do with age, it all boils down to your outlook on life, and how you instinctively perceive things. What is amazing is the number of people who head off to the nearest cosmetic surgeon for a nip here or a tuck there and still do not adjust to their new image. Even though your physical body may look significantly younger, you will only feel youthful when your mind adjusts to a new internal image of yourself.
What is even more amazing is that fact that this internal image is all in your mind, and therefore you have the ability to see yourself as youthful and to feel youthful no matter what shape your body is in. Cosmetic surgery really should work from the inside out, if you see what I mean! It’s risk free and it is pain free. All that is required is a commitment to see things from a different angle, to think in a different way. As Goldie Hawn rightly points out, the secret of youthfulness is not based upon how you look; it is dependent on seeing things with wonder, like a child who is experiencing something for the very first time.
You may think that this is all very well for Goldie Hawn to say. She is, after all, a beautiful woman to look at as well. But that outer beauty would not be so beautiful if she did not think in a youthful and beautiful way too. Your mind and body are intrinsically connected and each impacts more greatly on the other than most people realize.
Everything which happens in your life is shaped by how you look at it, by your chosen perspective and expectations. And every thought you have has an impact on your physiology. If you feel light and bright emotionally, your body will reflect this and you will walk with a spring in your step, stand taller, your eyes will sparkle, and so on. The opposite, of course, is also true, if you were to feel down and negative your physiology would reflect this in a downward trend – looking literally down at the mouth, with your shoulders slumping and your footsteps heavy. And your habitual thoughts and expressions tend to become etched upon your face and body for the world to see.
Your thoughts and feelings are shown to the world in your expressions, mannerisms, body posture and so on. At a deeper level, your thoughts and feelings impact on your bodily functioning and can manifest themselves as illness and disease within your body. Every idea, thought and belief you have can has a neuro-chemical consequence. Mental images, through your neural pathways, are able to transport messages to each and every cell in your body.
The secret of youthfulness lies therefore in how you choose to think about yourself and about your day to day experiences of life. You can choose to think in a youthful way and hypnosis downloads can be amazingly efficient in retraining your brain to quickly adjust to youthful patterns of thinking. We can all remember the excitement and enthusiasm of our younger years, and in reality we all long to revert to that carefree joyfulness once again. You really can wind the clock back with the help of hypnosis.
As you revert to thinking in a youthful way, with enthusiasm and curiosity and unbridled exhilaration and passion, this perspective on life will allow you to attract experiences into your life which reflect your outlook and enhance these feelings within yourself. It creates a snowball effect – as you think in a youthful way you attract experiences into your life which allow you to feel youthful and hence you think in an ever more youthful manner and create ever more youthful experiences and feelings. And these thoughts, feelings and experiences are mirrored in your physiology as well – so that your body looks and feels youthful too. The fact is your mind and body are intrinsically linked. What you think you become. You really do create your own reality.

Coping With An Anxiety Panic Attack by Nathan Tyler
How do you know if you’re having an anxiety panic attack? Suffering from two or more of the following symptoms could mean you’re suffering from an anxiety disorder:
-Psychological tension and frequent thoughts of worry.
-Inability or difficulty in carrying out everyday tasks
-Obsessive thoughts of irrational fear.
-Acknowledgment that certain places and situations elevate anxiety symptoms.
-Nausea, stomach upset and difficulty breathing.
-Dread and anticipation of bad things happening.
Too much stress in one’s life can cause psychological disorders such as anxiety disorder. It’s not unusual for people to experience bouts of anxiety when they are stressed but prolonged anxiety and stress is unhealthy.
Anxiety disorders can develop in childhood or adulthood. People who have poor self-esteem or a poor self image are more likely to suffer from mental illnesses. They can also be inherited and be passed on down through generations.
Anxiety disorders encompass a range of specific disorders which each have their own characteristics; these include GAD, OCD and PTSD. Links between anxiety disorders and other mental illnesses have been recognized.
Depression often develops in sufferers making their condition more difficult to treat. In these cases it’s important to treat both mental illnesses. If you think that you’re suffering from an anxiety disorder or depression, seek help from a doctor.
Since anxiety disorders encompass a range of mental disorders, there are a wide range of possible symptoms. Symptoms are not always easily diagnosed since anxiety disorders and other mental illnesses share the same symptoms.
Diagnosis can be difficult for a doctor especially when a patient complains of general symptoms such as headaches, muscle tension and fatigue. A qualified practitioner in mental health is worth seeing if you are unable to get a diagnosis from your doctor.
Although medication is often prescribed for anxiety disorders, there are drug-free alternatives to consider too. In addition, herbal supplements may also be considered as an alternative for those who want to avoid medication.
Most mental health therapists believe that self-help is the most effective solution. Changes in the subconscious of the mind can improve mental health. It’s in the subconscious part of the mind that controls our fear, stress and anxiety.
Alternative therapies such as CBT and hypnosis can greatly reduce the symptoms of anxiety. Even taking the time to really relax and let go can make positive changes. Controlling stress levels is essential for overall health.
The practice of yoga and meditation are excellent ways to reduce stress. Cycling and swimming are great ways to let go of tension and stress. You can learn to control an anxiety panic attack by using distraction or breathing techniques.

Taming Trauma with Zensight Process by Carol Ann Rowland
Janet and her partner Keith are a close couple, who have been together for a little over a year. One day they are relaxed and talking about their imagined life together, in the future. Keith – someone who Janet rationally knows is a fully “modern” in his attitude and views, and has always supported her in her work, playfully comments that “no wife of his” is going to work outside the home.
Suddenly, Janet goes pale and feels a flash of anger and fear go through her. She pulls away and storms out of the room. Keith is stunned and reacts with feelings of confusion, defensiveness, and betrayal. How could she not know he was kidding – doesn’t she know him at all? An argument follows.
What has happened here? How did this fun, playful discussion end in conflict?
Janet grew up in a family where money, work, and gender roles were a source of conflict. While no violence was present, an underlying atmosphere of anger, tension, and discord were present whenever issues connected with work or money were discussed.
Janet is reacting to past trauma.
Trauma is an unavoidable part of life – we have all experienced trauma in some form or another, whether we consciously identify it as such, or not. Trauma is generally defined as being something that overwhelms the ability to cope at the time.
No cataclysmic acts of violence occurred towards herself or between her parents. However, as a young sensitive child, Janet was very much affected by the atmosphere of tension, anger and unspoken hostilities were present whenever work or money were discussed.
Big, or small, trauma has an impact upon us. At the most extreme end of the spectrum of reactions are trauma-related disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) which are often characterized by hypervigilance, insomnia, flashbacks, anxiety, difficulty regulating and/or connecting with emotion, a pervasive experience of fear, and so forth.
At the other end of the spectrum we may notice milder – though no less troublesome – symptoms such as difficulties with relationships, feelings of depression, negative self talk, low self-esteem, avoidance of places and situations that remind oneself of traumatic events, and similar concerns.
With energy healing techniques such as Zensight, we can now bring healing to past traumas quickly and gently – without needing to discuss them if we do not wish to, or relive them – so that we can be free of their associated symptoms.
How to Use Zensight
Zensight involves working with the subconscious mind in a way that is similar to hypnosis, and yet no hypnosis is actually used. Instead, we begin by creating a “healing symbol”. This symbol can be a word, picture, or colour. Some people choose to use a symbol such as “ocean”. They then can focus on the word “ocean” when that feels right, and at other times may actually visualize the ocean.
When this healing symbol is used or focused upon with intent, it allows the fears, concerns, and “blocks” that someone is experiencing to gently heal and transform.
The healing symbol is then used together with healing statements and visualization, to soften, dissolve and release the concerns that are being experienced.
The use of visualization helps to greatly accelerate healing because it does not rely upon the limits of our conscious mind.
Sound simple? It is – extremely simple, and yet powerfully and deeply effective. Best of all, the effects are lasting – providing that energetic imbalances are addressed and healed, results will in most cases be permanent.
With Zensight, trauma is approached by processing and releasing the “decisions” that were made at the time the event(s) occurred. Often it is not the details of what happened that create traumatic symptoms so much as the information we took away from the event.
Janet didn’t experience overt acts of violence but she did internalize the belief that “it isn’t safe” to discuss – or disagree about – money.
To experience the power of Zensight in healing trauma, begin by choosing a past event that feels unresolved to you. Focus upon it for a moment and get a rating on a scale from 0 to 10 – where 0 is no upset at all, and 10 is the highest level of upset possible – of how upsetting the event feels to you now, in the present moment.
When you have chosen an incident to work on and have a sense of how upsetting it feels, begin by using the following statements, followed with your healing symbol.
If it feels safe to do so, you may also wish to notice any visual images that come up as you do so, and use your healing symbol to transform those as well.
I heal all of the fears that any parts of me have, that it’s not safe, not possible, or not in my best interests, to complete heal all of these concerns.
All of these concerns – and any traumas connected with them – now heal gently, easily, permanently, and completely.
“I now heal, transform and release, all of the beliefs formed by any parts of me when [name of the incident] occurred.”
“I heal all of the beliefs formed by any parts of me about myself, others, the world, or what I can expect from life, in relation to this incident.”
“I heal all of the ways that all of these issues have been being held in my body and energy field, or at the DNA, cellular or molecular levels.”
“I heal all of the ways that all of the different parts of me experienced this incident.”
“I heal any and all aspects of this incident that I may not remember.”
“I heal all of the patterns, emotions, behaviors, habits, and thoughts connected to all of these issues.”
“I heal any and all neural pathways connected with all of these concerns, that don’t serve my highest good now.”
“I let all the different parts of me know, deeply and completely, that it happened, but it’s over, and I am safe now.”
“It is safe for me to completely let go of all of my upset surrounding this incident.”
“I install new ways of now feeling at peace with this incident, and at peace with myself in relation to it.”
“All of this healing is completely effective for all of the past, all of the present, and all of the future.”
“All of the different parts of me receive all of this healing now.”
“I now install new neural pathways in order to support, reinforce and continue all of the healing that has occurred, and all of the healing that is about to occur.”
Check in now with the traumatic incident again. Notice any visual images, body sensations or emotions that come up as you do so, and use your healing symbol to transform these.
How upsetting does the incident feel now, on a scale from 0 to 10? If any upset remains, use additional statements and visualizations, together with your healing symbol, to allow it to completely release.
Notice also how your body is feeling as you think about the past event. Much of trauma is stored in the body. It is important to process the trauma until it feels emotionally neutral and the body can feel relaxed even while it is focused upon.
To further deepen the healing that has occurred, you may also wish to visualize yourself feeling, in the present moment and in the future, completely free of any concerns connected with the incident.
See yourself feeling happy and free, and living your life with peace and joy. Use your healing symbol to strengthen this experience, and let yourself know that this feeling of peacefulness and happiness is the new template for how things will be.
Once the traumatic events have been processed, the life patterns that have surrounded them will either dissolve on their own, or will become easier to transform through further use of energy healing.

How To Make The Right Choices To Help You Quit Smoking by Gregg Hall
The first thing you have to do in order to be successful in your quest to stop smoking is to make a conscious choice that you have that goal. The mechanics of how you go about achieving your goal will vary among different people with some using the patch, some under going some kind of hypnosis or other therapy, and other medicinal products that are available in the market place.
As with any addictive substance, for someone who is attempting to quit smoking they will need some kind of support group in most cases. For many people just the fact of having the support of friends and family can be the catalyst that makes them stop, others may need the encouragement and accountability that is afforded through an outside support group. There are surely support groups in your area, but there are many available online as well.
Positive results can be had when attempting to quell your habit if you get friends involved in helping you to reach your goal. Having the moral support of your peers and friends is a big motivator in behavior modification which is why many commercial support groups and advertisements for stop smoking aids stress the interaction between people as being important.
For people who feel the need to use medicinal aids to help them stop their nicotine cravings there are numerous drugs available including nicotine gum, the nicotine patch as mentioned above, and other substances that endeavor to help wean the body off of cigarettes by using nicotine sources that don’t cause harm to your body like smoking does.
There have been many drugs recently approved by the FDA that are nicotine free which work to free people from the nicotine habit by replacing the body’s need for nicotine with a craving for something that is less harmful which is then lessened gradually to rid one of their addiction.
Additionally there have been some new anti smoking vaccines recently tested and approved by the FDA that can be included to help those who can’t seem to stop any other way. This is kind of a bizarre method to me that introduces a virus in the body of the smoker that causes a reduction in the need for nicotine.
Everyone has their own reasons to stop smoking, some may be cosmetic, and some personal, but the main reason for anyone should be for good health. It is a known and proven fact that cigarette smoking is linked to a laundry list of maladies.

In reality, the art of self hypnosis is something that with a little bit of effort, anyone could learn.

In other words, there are an unlimited number of reasons why self hypnosis would definitely provide a solution to a problem that a person might be having.

Many times, experts in the field will travel from city to city offering a touring road show version of their teaching skills. Of course, these type of workshops are definitely profit driven so the ticket prices for the events just might be way up there. However, for the amount of money that a ticket might cost the benefits that are provided will be well worth it, particularly if the attendees walk away understanding how to properly conduct self hypnosis.
For those who may not have an expert coming to their town or might not be able to afford a high priced workshop, then it might be prudent to check out what the local community centers in the area have to offer in terms of learning hypnosis. Also, one could check and see if the subject is offered in a continuing education program at a local college or university. Sleepwalking by michael russell
There is no magic switch between wakefulness and sleep,” says Mark Mahowald, M.D., president of the American Sleep Disorders Association and director of the Minnesota Regional Sleep Disorders Center at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. “People are awake enough to exhibit extremely complex motor behaviors but are not conscious of them and don’t remember them in the morning. Most of us have answered the phone in the middle of the night, talked coherently, went back to sleep, and, in the morning, didn’t remember it at all. So, there’s a little bit of sleepwalking in all of us.”
Sleepwalking is very common, occurring in up to 30 percent of healthy children, 5 percent of whom have frequent episodes. It also occurs in one to three percent of adults. The behaviors of sleepwalkers may range from walking in to the kitchen to make a sandwich to walking outside barefoot in the snow or trying to drive a car. “The most important thing to remember is that these are normal phenomena and do not represent any serious psychological problems,” says Mahowald.
When should sleepwalkers seek medical help? Probably when the episodes provoke fear or concern in those around them, or if the sleepwalkers are putting themselves in danger during their late-night excursions, experts agree. A good sleep specialist or family physician may be able to prescribe medications or other therapies that can decrease the frequency of sleepwalking or stop it altogether. If the sleepwalking is mild, however, read on. The following tips may help.
Maintain a Regular Sleep-Wake Schedule : “If you are very sleepy when you go to bed, your chances of sleepwalking may be greater,” says Lee J. Brooks, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals of Cleveland. “Regular bedtimes and regular awakenings could help.” Overtired children are also notorious for sleepwalking.
Make Sure The Environment is Safe : One important guideline is to make sure that there is nothing dangerous in a sleepwalker’s path, says Brooks. “That means making sure that the person doesn’t have the opportunity to jump out of windows,” he says. “If it is a young child, you probably want to place a gate in front of the stairs and safety locks on the windows. You can buy products from the hardware store that allow you to open the window a small amount, but which will prevent somebody from jumping out. Make sure knives are not kept out. Don’t let a sleepwalking child sleep on the top bunk of a bunk bed. Different people are more severe than others. You need to judge the individual as to what lengths to go to.” Other safety tips include placing locks high on doors, keeping clutter off of floors and stairs to prevent the possibility of tripping. and moving tables, nightstands, and other furniture out of the path to the bedroom door.
Don’t Drink Alcohol : Alcohol fragments sleep, making it less sound than normal, according to Mahowald. In adolescents and adults, this fragmentation can also trigger sleepwalking, he says.
Empty your Bladder Before Retiring : Since sleepwalking is usually triggered by a partial arousal from sleep, try to eliminate all possible disturbances. At the top of the list is a full bladder. “Some people think that a full bladder can precipitate sleepwalking in a susceptible patient,” Brooks says. It’s also wise to limit nighttime fluid intake.
Treat a Cough : Fever, coughs, and sneezing can all bring on sleepwalking by partially awakening the sleeper, according to Mahowald. Treating ailments with over the counter medications before bedtime may help to prevent a sleepwalking episode.
Check Your Medications : Certain medications, such as lithium and benzodiazepines or other hypnotics, can precipitate sleepwalking in people who are predisposed to nighttime rambling, according to Brooks. If you suspect that a drug is causing your problem, he suggests calling your doctor.
Learn Self-Hypnosis : “Hypnosis can be helpful for mild cases of sleepwalking,” says Mahowald. “Not in-depth hypnotherapy, but self-hypnosis or relaxation that can be taught in one or two visits to an experienced medical hypnotherapist.”
Guide The Sleeper Back to Bed : If you notice someone in your household sleepily ambling around, take them by the elbow and gently guide them back to bed, says Brooks. At the same time, whisper reassuringly in to the sleeper’s ear. Chances are, they’ll allow them selves to be easily led and will quickly return to sleep.
Don’t Touch The Sleeper if he or She Seems Agitated : “If a sleepwalker seems agitated, don’t attempt to touch him or try to lead him back to bed,” says Richard Ferber, M.D., director of the Center for Pediatric Sleep Disorders at Children’s Hospital, Boston, and assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Touching an upset sleepwalker may cause him or her to flail out violently, putting you in danger.
Give The Sleeper Some Space : If you are unable to lead a sleepwalker peaceably back to bed, back off and give them room to do their thing, says Ferber. If they appear to be in danger, move objects out of their path or redirect them, he advises. “If they are hot and bothered and are about to fall down stairs, do something about it,” he suggests. “If they are feeling their way along the wall, talking in an upset way, you can also try to talk to them quietly and calm them down.”
Keep it Quiet : Any nighttime disturbances can propel a sleepwalker into a state halfway between sleeping and waking, according to Brooks. Keep :he household as quiet as possible, eliminating any unnecessary noise. If your home is extremely noisy, say due to proximity to an airport or railroad track, earplugs can offer welcome relief.
Put a Bell on The Bedroom Door : It is probably dangerous to allow a young child to wander around the house unattended (especially if there are stairs), says Ferber. His advice is to put a bell on the bedroom door that will ring when the door is opened, to alert you that the sleepwalker is up and about.
Wait it Out : “It’s important to remember that sleepwalking, especially in children, improves with time and does not represent any serious psychological problems,” says Brooks. He recommends seeing a doctor if the episodes provoke concern or pose the threat of an injury to the sleepwalker or other household member.

Powerful Sales Technique Of Conversational Hypnosis by Nick C.
Conversational hypnosis is a term used by Ericksonian hypnotherapists to create a trance using embedded words in the verbal text. Some people see this technique as unethical because the client has a right to knowingly participate in the development of trance. On the contrary, other specialists affirm that conversational hypnosis is a well-tested and effective Ericksonian technique, and definitively not unethical in any way.
Sales Executives employ many successful sales techniques. One of the most interesting techniques is conversational hypnosis. So what is this technique and how can you use it to increase sales? A key element in using conversational hypnosis is to be able to influence people without the use of words. For an example, an air conditioner salesperson may want a customer to know how hot the outside temperature is. Rather than say the obvious, he can simply make a point of looking at the thermometer on the wall. Most likely, when the salesman looks at the thermometer, the customer will too. The salesman has told the customer how hot it is (and how much he needs an air conditioner) without saying a word.
How your sales job is related with conversational hypnosis?
Every purchaser will have a motive. It is either something that they want to have, wished for or something that can potentially contribute to growth to whatever they are doing. For example why would an individual live a big house when he or she can live comfortably in an average sized home? Or why would a business owner expand his or her business to other states or overseas when it is doing well its current location?
If you are equipped with the skill of conversational hypnosis, you will become a better sale person. Because some how or someway, you will be able to manage and convince your client that the product or service you are selling is what they want or something that can help improve whatever that they are doing.
If you’re looking for a way to boost your sales, conversational hypnosis should be a strong consideration. Many sales executives have already proven that it can significantly boost sales. In a nutshell, conversational hypnosis is the ability to cause people to look at things from your perspective, instead of from their previous point of view. The ability to do this, without it being too obvious to the customer, is a sure way to close more sales for you and your company.
Do keep in mind though that such skill isn’t only for selling. It is really a great addition to your life because you will be able to use conversional hypnosis to persuade an individual, a group or even large audience to do your bidding.
If you would like to know more about conversational hypnosis, several websites offer online courses on the topic. You might also try reading your conversational hypnosis guide

Pop Star Lily Owes Weight Loss to Hypnotherapy by Samantha Srillian
When pop star Lily Allen recently dropped three dress sizes, magazines and websites went wild for her new look. Chart topper Lily managed to drop down from a 14 to a svelte size 8, and she owes it all to hypnosis.
In order to lose the weight, the formally curvy star visited celebrity hypnotherapist Sarah Hepburn who claims to have a 98 per cent success rate. The notoriously difficult pop star was so impressed with the results that she endorsed Hepburn’s forthcoming DVD, Lose Weight Without Dieting, she said: “Hypnosis gave me a flat tum – I’ve never been happier!”
Now the fashion world has seen the impact of using hypnotherapy to aid weight loss, it could really take off. Hepburn carried out the treatment on Lily by simply repeating motivating sentences to her while she was hypnotised. These included statements such as ‘You will do everything in your power to become your target weight’, and, ‘You will remember to drink lots of water.’ Like other weight-loss clients, Lily was asked to keep a food diary after the initial hypnosis session. She was also asked to begin practising self-hypnosis, although some would argue that this is not dissimilar to the self-discipline required for regular diets and weight-loss programmes.
Hepburn, a softly spoken Northerner, is always happy to explain how hypnotherapy actually works. She said: “It’s all about re-programming the brain, planting thoughts deep into the subconscious when people are at their most receptive.” Hepburn calls the process of erasing negative habits from our brains ‘deleting files’ and it seems to work.
Married mother-of-one Hepburn grew up in Yorkshire. After leaving school, she worked in accountancy and nursing, before turning to psychotherapy, which ultimately led to her current career in hypnotherapy. Hepburn started by establishing a small consultancy in the North of England, although she soon moved to London where her business boomed and she was able to build up an impressive client list. In fact, her list is so impressive that she was flown out to the Japan World Cup and often conducts trans-global hypnotherapy over the phone, she also boasts a mass celebrity following. These days, Hepburn’s DVDs are best sellers and she has been asked to appear on Oprah, as well as a number of other major American TV programmes.
Hepburn doesn’t only use her skills as a hypnotherapist to hep people tackle weight loss; she believes that there are no bad habits or fears that she can’t tackle. While the most popular problems she deals with tend to be weight loss, alcoholism and smoking, she has also helped to cure a woman with a crippling banana phobia, as well as a number of sportsmen who were suffering from confidence issues and even some who simply wanted to improve their game.
It looks like it isn’t just Lily who is keen to thank Hepburn for her help; the hypnotherapist regularly receives notes of thanks from satisfied customers. She explains, “It means a lot to them, because I give them their freedom. That’s why they’re so grateful.”
