Nature holds bountiful undiscovered-as-yet secrets for humanity. Normally, we seek to unveil them through scientific means–through our laboratory equipment, processes and methodologies; however, the conventional, material methods of probing into Nature’s treasure storehouse may only take us to a certain point beyond which it is difficult for three-dimensional instruments to record, and the physical senses and mind to follow and apprehend. And yet, humanity unconsciously feel that it is possible to wrest from benign Nature her many hidden arcana or esoteric laws and principles. Could it be that we are investigating the more subtle aspects of Nature through the wrong approach, through the wrong channels and processes? Could it be that we are being misled by our senses in regards to our perception and conception of time, space, and matter and that paradigm shifts from the old Corpernican, Newtonian and Einsteinian models are required in order to break through scientific humps? There are many brave scientists who are working out this problem to the ridicule of their more orthodox colleagues.

In order for Man and the Universe to be understood as well as all the phenomena that occurs therein, it is necessary to consider the so-called “abstract” and “occult” principles that was once in the domain of Religion and Philosophy–and this should be conducted in a scientific, systematic, rational and metaphysical manner. If Science is to discover the Ultimate Truth, it must not neglect its investigations into the subtle realms. By claiming that these realms or soul-phenomena do not exist for they cannot be perceived by the objective senses or monitored by instruments is prejudicial and scientifically irrational, as there are many things such as electromagnetic energies, certain gases, cosmic rays, etc. that we are unable to directly perceive and was once undetectable by instruments. By restricting its probing and search for the Ultimate First Cause solely on the physical plane Science does itself an injustice, for life here and physical phenomena are simply a fragment of a whole. Our senses only perceive a limited range of phenomena in the energy-spectrum. Scientific devices may only extend our range of perception a little further and aid us to record a little bit more. What is beyond our perception vibrates in astronomical frequencies. What we are unable to detect physically may well exist beyond the range of our senses. The investigation of Nature’s more subtle aspects is not beyond the line of reason or scientific analyses if several principles are taken into consideration :

1) The higher realities must be investigated through the higher faculties of the soul, through a higher consciousness or through an altered state of awareness.

2) That which is not perceived through the objective senses does not imply its non-existence, even to a psychic’s failure of perception, for they may simply be “out-of-range.”

3) That the diversity and inconsistency of recorded paranormal phenomena do not indicate its non-validity as it may well be that the nature of the higher worlds reflect the influential instability or fluctuations of the investigator’s mind, thoughts, and feelings.

4) That the mind moulds reality, whether physical or non-physical out of the energies of its internal and ambient environment.

5) That Cosmic or natural laws with possible mathematical formulation apply in the subtle realms as they apply here in the physical.

6) That the linear time-space continuum may not apply in the higher dimensions as they do here.

7) That the mind is not the sole faculty of knowing.

8) That some metaphysical phenomena goes way beyond our earthly concepts and the apprehension of the mind and is difficult to explain using conventional language.

9) That metaphysical phenomena are repeatable even in controlled laboratory conditions should all the natural laws factors, and variables involved in the phenomena’s manifestation be taken into account.

Science is aware that the physical world as we perceive it is an illusion and yet our senses delude us by informing us that it is real with the “power to affect us in some way.” If this is considered to be a criterion of “reality” then the “imaginary” worlds too are real for they likewise affect us in some manner, as psychologists would undoubtedly concur. Of metaphysical interest, one vital question emerges: is the existence of these other so-called imaginary worlds, these other “realities,” part of the “Gupta Vidya,” or the secret teachings that spiritual preceptors sought to convey to humanity?

Gautama Buddha once referred to the amount of teachings that he revealed to the world by comparing them with the few leaves of a tree that he had clasped in his hand. The bountiful leaves that he pointed out, still clinging to the boughs of the tree constituted that which was yet undisclosed to humanity. Several centuries later, almost at the end of his exoteric ministry, the Master Jesus said to his disciples that he had further teachings to convey to them but they were unprepared as yet for their reception. Why? What were these advanced precepts? These secret doctrines, if ever existed, are unrecorded in the New Testament. They would have been verbal–oral teachings for the selected few. Are these oral teachings still in existence or are they “lost”? Are they perhaps preserved in the consciousness of the Magi, the wise men of every ancient culture? Are they carefully guarded in certain temples and underground vaults hidden from prying eyes? Are they so spiritually scientific in nature that men unprepared with the proper moral, intellectual, and rational basis were not able to fully grasp their principles and significance? It takes a great mind to know another; it also takes a great mind to understand the great principles and laws of Nature. In the early days of recorded history only the few had attained to the desired level of understanding and were prepared to develop the greatness necessary to grasp Nature’s hidden laws and principles.

How does one attain greatness, how does one become great enough to apprehend the “higher” teachings that the spiritually enlightened have to offer? We have always been advised by spiritual teachers to walk with God; to tread the strait and narrow way or the ancient path; challenged to go where angels dread; or to go where no man (mortal) has gone before, and yet, most of us feel not up to the task. The one thing that prevents us from doing so is fear–fear that has been instilled in us by superstition, religious dogma, propaganda, and other false teachings.

What is the nature of these occult principles and doctrines that the spiritual teachers throughout the ages wished to convey to humanity but had to withhold for the lack of “preparation” on the part of man? Were these secret teachings eventually given out to select persons who subsequently became the spiritual pioneers and leaders, reformers, and prophets of future generations?

Life is a mystery, however, the more we partake of the higher spiritual consciousness the more we come to understand this “mystery of mysteries.” This is the unveiling of the secrets of the Egyptian goddess Isis who declared truthfully that no mortal shall ever unveil her. Isis, as the personification of Nature, was right: no man has ever or will ever unveil her to behold her naked beauty. Only when the mortal mind–which is representative of man–is displaced in favor of the immortal God-mind will we ever come to be aware and understand All That Is, all that Isis, the Divine Mother represents. Is this concept strange? The Bible states that no man shall see God and live. Indeed, the spiritual Masters tell us that no man shall see God and live–as men. The perception of God entails embodying all that God is, all of His virtues, attributes, and consciousness. To truly understand a thing we must become that thing. This is the Law of Empathy or Identification. This is what separates saints and prophets from the Cosmic gods and men-made-perfect. Saints may lead a pure and holy life; but by separating themselves from their fellow men by secluding themselves and maintaining a consciousness of duality, they do not advance to a higher spiritual status. In order for their consciousness to be raised to a higher evolutionary level, it is necessary for them to transcend all dualistic opposites, illusions and errors in mortal thinking. This we personally call Divine thinking. How shall this transition from manhood to godhood be accomplished? Spiritual teachers have always been present on Earth to direct and help uplift humanity to a higher level of consciousness and awareness. Teachers but point the way. It is up to the aspirant or disciple to tread the Path that leads to enlightenment and illumination.

In every religion there is an oral tradition–secret doctrines given out to a few. These were called “esoteric teachings.” The few were privileged to receive these wisdom teachings because their mental, spiritual capacity and level, and their morality far exceeded those of the average person and were spiritualized enough to comprehend and be receptive to abstract verities. The privileged few, having duly prepared themselves spiritually, had eliminated many of the egoistic tendencies that would have caused them to misuse and abuse sacred knowledge. These secret teachings empowers one. They give tremendous powers over the forces of Nature; this was the reason for the careful guardianship by the forces of Light over them. This is sometimes portrayed in classical myths as dragons protecting gemstones or other treasures in their lair. In esoteric teachings dragons often represent wise, enlightened men. In Hindu tradition, these men were the Nagas who lived in their caves of meditation and rock temples. They were called dragons or serpents for their innate energy coiled at the base of their spine, otherwise known as kundalini, was permanently raised and wed to its higher counterpart in the crown chakra. This counterpart is the dove, the Holy Ghost. The serpent is Shakti while the dove is Shiva. About two thousand years ago the Master Jesus admonished us to be as wise as the serpent and harmless as the dove. Esoterically, he was telling us to stimulate kundalini to ascend and the dove of love, purity and the Christ-Consciousness to descend. When kundalini meets her mate she must crown him with the jewel that she ought to carry with her. Those who are familiar with esoteric and occult concepts will understand what all of the above signifies. In ancient Egypt the pharaohs wore head-dresses or crowns with the serpent, the sacred “Uraeus” protruding from the area of the Ajna chakra, the etheric energy-center located between the eyebrows. In those days it was a prerequisite for candidates to ruler-ship to be spiritually enlightened before ascending the throne; the candidates had to undergo spiritual training that would prepare them for their exalted task; however, this practice was later neglected and it subsequently caused the degeneration and corruption not only of the Egyptian rulers but the priesthood as well.

In bygone days, sacred knowledge concerning Man, Nature, the Universe and God were taught in those institutions called the Mystery Schools. In these temples of knowledge and wisdom the candidates were initiated into the Ancient Wisdom that existed long before the foundation of this world. Before such occult teachings were taught the candidates had to undergo certain tests and trials to prove their worthiness. When these tests were successfully completed and certain trials overcome the candidates were initiated into the sacred Mysteries of Life. They were taught how to acquire the gnosis, or sacred knowledge through personal soul-experience. The control of the forces within man was also taught to the novices by the Kheri-Hebs, the hierophants, or Masters. These accomplished beings instructed the novices how the subtle body of man may be exteriorized to experience the higher dimensions. Many methods were used to accomplish this by the Wise Ones such as the careful use of certain hallucinogens, hypnosis, acoustics, concentration, mesmerism, meditation, etc. The King’s chamber of the Great Pyramid was particularly used as a portal of initiation into higher worlds. The immortality of man and reincarnation were basic principles taught in the sacred teachings of the Mystery Schools.

In the early days of our unrecorded history, the creator gods, the Elohim, the Lords of Mind and the Lords of Flame, walked with man in everyday life and nurtured the divine spark within him. The Spiritual Elders gave teachings to their disciples and they eventually became the rulers of civilizations and the leaders of humanity. These enlightened rulers were the God-kings and Priest-kings still talked about by students of occultism. They inaugurated our fabled Golden Ages. ALL HYPNOSIS IS SELF HYPNOSIS. You can hypnotize yourself anytime you want. I suggest you know what you are going to do when you are done with the hypnosis session and be on your way and do it. Have a plan. Do not focus on the old memories of those urges, trying to feel the craving for the tobacco or nicotine (you think you’re just checking to see if that old familiar feeling is still there, trying to feel that craving- BUT YOU’RE REALLY RE-HYNOTIZING YOURSELF TO BE A SMOKER). If you just go on with your life and you can, you will not ever miss those cigarettes or tobacco. If you get this part, you will have great success in becoming a non-smoker.

A light trance is as trancy as you need to get for this to work. This means you do not have to experience a deep trance. Deeper trances don’t really work better, but they are more interesting. A nice light trance is all you need for this to work. This means you simply sit back, try to relax, listen to the voice of your hypnotherapist, thinking about what they’re saying, participating and you may hear him or her and everything they say, are aware of other noises around you and that’s okay! To help you focus on their voice so you are not distracted, focus on your breathing, feeling and counting slowly to yourself while you inhale through your nose and again while you exhale through your mouth. Keep your tongue off the roof of your mouth so you can relax and relax your eyes by keeping them closed and looking out and up into the universe, way out there, into the darkness. If you do this, you won’t have tension in your face or body. Keep your eyes closed until you’re told to open them. Simply participating by following these instructions, will make you a great subject and you will be hypnotized even if you “don’t feel anything” because you won’t, other than relaxed. There isn’t any feeling of being hypnotized other than a feeling of being relaxed. Afterwards, you should FEEL better, healthier, happier, stronger and SMOKE FREE. When you’re hypnotized, you are always in control. Always. Your senses become keener. You become more aware, not less. You hear and if you feel the need to know what is said, you’ll keep your level of physical consciousness up, tuned in, so you can be aware of what is being said. Your mind may wonder. It can and if it does, just bring your attention back to their voice thinking about what they’re am saying. Think about cleaning up your system as a cleansing on your body of toxins while becoming smoke free. This is powerful. A nice light trance is as trancy as you need to get to make this work. This is like a mind exercise. You do not just listen as if you’re being told a story but rather, you have to think about it, using your imagination, being creative, actually participating with the mind, at work and feel it with emotion to make it most powerful.

I recommend you find someone to hypnotize you that has years of experience and does it full time, not someone that dabbles in it.It should also be someone that has a voice that you like and feel comfortable with. Be sure you receive an audio CD with the same hypnosis on it to listen to for reinforcement almost daily for 28 days. This reinforcement will help you stay in control of any stress you may have, but most importantly it will make you a non-smoker permanently. If you should have some very stressful event occur in your life down the road in say a year or 5 years, and you had listened to your hypnosis audio like you were suppose to, you will realize that no matter what happens, nothing can ever make you smoke ever again. Also, most of my clients simply continue listening to their hypnosis audios because it is so relaxing, they enjoy it, while it improves their attitude and makes them feel better, it improves their memory or they listen to it because they can’t sleep or they use it to reduce their stress. Even if you have no desire to smoke, I suggest you listen to your reinforcement anyway so you’ll never smoke again.

History of hypnosis starts from the early ages of history. In ancient times, people used different forms of hypnosis techniques. Below I will discuss the ancient history of hypnosis and how it has been used in ancient civilizations.

In ancient civilizations, hypnosis was mainly used for healing purposes, especially in the religious ceremonies. People who applied hypnosis were referred as the witch doctors, medicine men, healers, shamans etc.

The earliest evidence of hypnosis was found among shamans. Shaman paid special attention to the concentration during the healing. He did not use any chemicals or alcoholic substances in the first 24 hours of the process. Because he needed strong concentration, so he avoided anything distracting.

During the process, shaman made himself as comfortable as possible, which allowed his subconscious mind to become strongly focused. Only after this he started the healing process.

Repeat your suggestions to yourself as often as possible throughout each day.

Silence helps most people to relax, so you may want to choose a quiet, private area far away from the ringing of the phone or the humming of the washing machine. Many people use a fan to drown out the sounds that could disturb concentration. Pleasant scents also help in that regard, so using up on aromatic candles or incense can also be a good idea.

Here is a basic view of the process of self hypnosis. There are many different approaches to self hypnosis, but the fundamental principles remain the same. Keep in mind that these are the basic steps you will need to go through in order to achieve self hypnosis and to accomplish desired self improvement.

1. List and arrange your goals from the most important goal to the less important. If at all possible, your goals should be measurable. Set clearly defined short and long term goals so you will be able to measure your progress and achieve personal satisfaction once you have successfully obtained your goals. Your self confidence will also improve as you become more attuned to your capabilities as you complete or achieve your goals.

2. For each specific goal, you should define appropriate suggestions on how to achieve each goal. You will need to convert your goals to specific instructions to your subconscious mind.

3. Use the first few minutes of your self hypnotic session to get as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Try to clear your mind from all of your concerns and problems.

4. Begin your hypnotic phase by repeating aloud the hypnotic words or phrases that you have chosen in step 2. Think of these words or listen to a hypnotic recording customized for your own personal hypnotic and goal fulfillment needs.

It is recommended that you keep a journal to help you to measure your progress. From time to time you may look over your journal entries and ask yourself, “Am I closer to my goal now than before I started?” If you answer “yes”, then congratulations are in order. If your answer is “No”, you may need to rethink and reorganize your method. The important thing is not to become discouraged. Self hypnosis can truly be an effective way to achieve self improvement.

Chronic stress has been associated with weakened immune system resistance. Stress can contribute to anxiety, depression, and its several effects on the body’s organs.
The American Heritage Dictionary defines “stress” as follows:
“To subject to physical or mental pressure, tension, or strain”

The same dictionary defines “tension” as follows:
“Mental, emotional, or nervous strain”

It defines “anxiety” as follows:
“A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties”

And the following definition is given for “depression”:
“The condition of feeling sad or despondent”

“Clinical depression” is defined as follows:
“A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death.”

We can nonetheless be sure that our mind is the first cause of our feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. Put differently, what we think about, and our attitudes and the way we view our experiences dictate what we feel. That way, if we can discover how to modify our thoughts, attitudes, and points of view, then we can eliminate our feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression and replace them with a better state of being.

People have always sought out methods for eliminating stress. The pharmaceutical industry seems to have a drug for everything. For that the industry has produced a large line of anxiolytics from Valium to Xanax. If you choose to utilize these pills for relief, please make sure that you are aware of the side-effects by reading the fine print, which usually include addiction and dependency. Indeed these sorts of drugs attempt to treat the symptoms, but not the cause. So when one stops taking them, the symptoms can come back.

A more intelligent method to eliminate tension, stress, anxiety, and depression is to try to cure the root cause, which as I wrote previously, is generally our thought processes. There is some good news. Hypnosis is all about relaxation. The AMA accepted hypnosis in 1958 as an effective way to treat stress and stress related symptoms. And unlike drugs, there are definitely no bad side effects.

When you enter the state of hypnosis, you are in the Alpha level of consciousness. It is the daydream like temporary psychological mindset which we feel as we’re about to fall asleep at night. And we feel it again when we wake up in the morning. There are several different ways we can guide ourselves into this relaxed mood, from step-by-step relaxation to visual imagery to listening to hypnosis CD’s.

When we access the hypnotic state, we can communicate with our unconscious mind, which is the center of our feelings. And one can more easily admit new ideas and points of view that will help us to get rid of anxiety, or even avoid it in the first place.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), which is a recently developed sort of hypnosis, has several great methods for releasing stress. Maybe the technique that works best is called the “swish” pattern – or the “flash” pattern. When you use the “swish” pattern, your unconscious will automatically use negative, stress triggering mental images, to generate tranquilizing mental images. In other words, what generally makes you feel stress will now make you feel more relaxed!

Tension, stress, anxiety, and depression can be activated by our thoughts. So if we change our attitude and the way we resent our situation and our experiences, we can get rid of these feelings at the root. Want To Lose Weight, Quit Smoking? There Is A Secret Equation That Guarantees Success by Alan B. Densky, CH

For nearly all folks, the boulevard to individual change and self-improvement is a long and winding highway filled with difficult barriers. Drug companies in particular have capitalized on and created gigantic fortunes because of the elusive search for the “Magic Pill” that will cure all ills. As it turns out, there is a secret formula for success, and it begins in the subconscious mind.

One of the laws of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is that “there is a positive intention behind all behaviors.” And based on that law, when it comes to successfully eliminating negative behaviors, there is a formula that we must keep in mind. I’ll let you in on the secret formula in a minute. But first, I have a riddle for you to solve.

Riddle: A holy man made his child drink lye, which burned out the child’s voice box. What was the positive intention behind this behavior?

If you are like 99.9% of the clients who have come into my office since 1978, you’ll exclaim something like: “There isn’t any positive intent behind that behavior.” But you would be 100% mistaken. To answer this riddle, first you have to separate the behavior from the positive objective of the deed.

The minister’s child was cursing. And the minister believes that if his child curses, his soul will be condemned to Hell. So the answer is that the minister was burning out his child’s voice box so that he couldn’t curse. By doing so, he was saving his child’s soul from being damned to Hell.

The secret equation for personal change works as follows:

We should always value the positive intention behind each behavior. If we have an impulse to engage in a behavior that we don’t like, we can quickly get rid of the impulse to use that behavior. All we must do is to find another behavior and substitute it in its place. To be successful, the new conduct must be as accessible and efficient at accomplishing the same outcome, but be more consciously acceptable to you. This is called a REFRAME.

When clients come into my practice, one of the first things that I do is to take a methodical case history. In this instance, let’s imagine that they come to me and ask me to help them lose weight. Conventional wisdom tells us that the two main reasons that anyone eats too much are: (1) to tranquilize themselves; (2) because eating can be a conditioned response. Case in point, if a person eats while they are talk on the phone, they will develop a conditioned response, and thereafter, every time they talk on the phone they will get an urge to eat.

However, the above answer only takes into consideration the possible positive intention behind the eating behavior. What if they also have another behavior that is involved in the equation? For example: What if being overweight is also a behavior for this person? I can hear your mind spinning right now as you think, “Being tubby isn’t a behavior, what are you talking about?”

Sorry but you could be entirely wrong. Here is one classic textbook example that will illustrate the fact that being tubby can be a behavior. It can be a behavior because it can supply secondary gains.

Example: A woman is in love. Her partner breaks up with her, and breaks her heart. Her unconscious mind wants to shield her emotionally and keep her from having her heart broken again. So it motivates her to get tubby to keep her out of relationships. Because if she isn’t in a relationship she will not get her heart broken again.

Everyone is totally different. And sometimes there are unconscious elements at work that cause compulsive behaviors. These are elements that are different for each person.

Here’s another example: A woman comes into my practice complaining of an out of control compulsion to eat way too much at mealtime. During the case history, the woman explains how she has never been able to please her father.

During an age regression, we learned that one of her early memories was of eating a meal with her family. And her dad was insisting in an angry voice that she finish all of the food on her plate, even though she was stuffed. So she ate the food left on her plate because of fear, and her father praised her for eating all of the food. It was one of the only times in her life that she could recall her dad telling her that he was happy with her.

Jump forward to present day. Dad has been dead for years, but the unconscious program he programmed is still at work. She still has a compulsion to finish everything on her plate, even if she is feeling full, because by cleaning the plate, in her subconscious she is getting her dad’s approval, and eliminating her own fear!

So if you are having a problem making personal changes, please remember that there is a positive intention that causes all behaviors. And the secret formula for success is to alternate a different behavior that will realize the same positive intention, but in a way that is more consciously acceptable to you, as an individual. You are getting sleepy” is a phrase that is now synonymous with hypnosis. It conjures up images of a white bearded man with an Austrian accent waving a pendulum or, perhaps, an image of a studio audience strutting around a stage ‘clucking’ in the total belief that they are chickens. Both of these conceptions about hypnosis give the impression that it can be used to totally control your mind and make you do things you may regret. This is not true! There is no one who can hypnotize you or use it to control your thoughts or actions against your will. You must give your permission and surrender to the process during hypnosis because all hypnosis is self hypnosis.

How hypnosis works is still a bit of a mystery as research into the human mind is still in its relative infancy. In the large scale of medical science the workings of the human mind have only been investigated relatively recently. However, scientific research has uncovered many amazing things about the mind not least of which is that your mental processes, thoughts and beliefs are connected and effected by your emotional experiences which in turn affect the your health and quality of life experiences.

A huge percentage of the medical establishment now admit that 90% of illness begins in the mind and that our emotions and mental processes have a huge affect on our bodies.

This is due mainly to that fact that the human brain is the center and focal point of an extremely complex nervous system. It is itself made up of a huge intertwining combination of sophisticated neural networks. There are also networks of cells and nerves which are weaved through the body and which are in direct contact, via electrical signals, to the brain. Theses electrical signals travel along huge internal highways at incredibly high speeds and even jump across gaps between cells. They are used by the brain to receive or send information and instructions.

The mind has two parts which are most commonly known as the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is responsible for organizing and filtering our outer experiences. It is the decision maker and has the ability to make choices. It is the filter with which we experience reality. However, many of our decisions are made unconsciously without any real thought or consideration and come from patterns stored in the subconscious mind.

The subconscious is very an extremely powerful mechanism that we still don’t know everything about. The closest analogy we have is to that of a computer system. It serves as a memory bank which can store an immeasurable amount of data. In certain parts of the brain everything we have ever experienced is stored by inter connected nerve cells which make up networks. When similar situations occur in our lives these networks and cells are activated to feed back our memory patterns to the conscious mind, taking the form of thoughts and feelings. Nothing in this vast data bank is ever erased but it can be altered if the subconscious mind is given the correct command.

The subconscious mind also controls and fully regulates the internal functions of the body such as blood circulation, breathing, metabolic rate, digestion and the thousand of other functions we take for granted. Hypnosis has been shown to be a highly effective tool for manipulating these programs running in the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind also regulates our emotions. It is well known and accepted in the medical professions that the emotions have a direct affect on self-image, self-confidence, and the strength and meaning we place on our desires and needs. These emotions have a dramatic affect on all areas of our lives because they tend to affect our behaviour. The great majority of behavioural issues are directly caused by emotional thinking and almost every decision we make is a direct result of our emotions and feelings about a subject or situation.

Hypnosis is used to release these stored emotions, connect new emotions to memories or create new emotional responses to situations.

The subconscious mind is also the seat of the Imagination. Although many people believe they have no imagination this is in fact erroneous. Everyone has very strong imaginative faculties we just use our imagination in different ways.

This misinterpretation stems from the stage hypnotist’s use of the word “sleep” as analogical to the hypnotic state.
