I thought I would write about my experience with EFT tapping and how it is helping me with my fear of flying. The idea actually came to me today, while I was on a plane! To start off, I wouldn't really call what I had a "phobia" as it was less intense. It was a kind of nervousness and discomfort that would start once I began packing my suitcase, and only end when the plane's wheels touched ground.

Those who are familiar with EFT know that we usually rate these kinds of fears on a scale of 1 to 10. In my case, I would say that my fear was between a 4 and a 5. It would sometimes go up to a 7..or even 8 during turbulence. I determined to get over this fear completely. Not only that, but I want to reach a point where I will actually enjoy flying, which is not impossible cause many people do enjoy it.

When I first started applying EFT to my fear of flying, I would tap while saying "Even though I'm afraid of flying, I deeply and completely accept myself". However, after learning more about EFT, I realized that this set up statement was way too broad.

I began being more specific after that. I started tapping on:

"The discomfort while packing"

"The nervousness while going to the airport (and in the airport)"

"The nervousness while the plane is taking off..what if something goes wrong?"

"The anxiety while landing..etc."

You get the point.

After doing these tappings, I did fly a couple of times and I did feel more comfortable. I felt completely ok at the airport and much better during the flight. But some anxiety was still there.

While thinking about it during one of my flights, I realized that this anxiety was due to some horrible images that come to my mind about what might happen to the plane. Some of these images come from movies Ive seen in the past with scenes of plane crashings and such. They would come to my mind uncontrollably and I was unconsciously pushing them away. But they were still coming back and causing me this distress. So I figured I would describe, in detail, what I would fear would happen while tapping on it. For example:

"Even though I'm scared that the engines would suddenly fail and etc...(ill spare you the details)..I completely accept myself"

Another thought came to me that being completely comfortable on the plane is not a good thing!! (which is obviously wrong!) So I tapped:

"Even thought being comfortable and happy on a plane is crazy,,cause you never know what might happen, I accept myself and believe that I am protected (by God)"

So I did that and, thankfully, the images stopped coming. Or, they would come, but they would be less clear and a lot less scary. I guess a little more tapping would finish the job.

Today I was at a point where I was laughing and cracking jokes on the plane. Something I haven't done in a long time.

There's still a little more work to be done. But so far, the improvement has been great.
