Hypnosis Panic Attacks

Panic Attack Advice: Techniques to Control Acute Fear and Panic Attacks by Jon Mercer

Panic attacks are part of the bodies “fight or flight” response. But while it is normal and absolutely harmless to experience “fight or flight” sensations from time to time, for some people this sensation can turn into a recurring attacks that caused extreme feelings of fear and impending doom.

One trademark characteristic of all panic attacks is that the intense feelings of fear seem like they will last forever. Anyone can be startled or scared at times, even in tensely so; but panic attack sufferers develop periodic episodes of severe fear and both emotional and physical discomfort that can seem in the moment to be a permanent situation, not something that is casual and fleeting.

There are different types of panic attack advice that can be helpful to different sufferers. We’ll take a look at two of the most common tips for controlling panic attacks and severe anxiety.

Panic Attack Advice: Technique 1
One simple but effective way to control panic attacks is to break the cycle of panic as it is building within you. Relaxation techniques are effective way to do this for many people. One of the most common relaxation techniques is the “muscle tension” method. This requires the sufferer to sit or lie comfortably and alternately tense and relax the muscles and their body, usually beginning from the toes, and working progressively up the body to the forehead and scalp.

By tensing and then relaxing each group of muscles, the body is “tricked” into adopting a slower pace, and the heart rate is often lowered considerably by following this technique, as breathing becomes more calm and steady.

The muscle tension method has become common panic attack advice over the last couple of decades, and has proven to be a significant help to many anxiety and panic attack sufferers. It takes just a few minutes to perform, and the effects can be quite dramatic. Highly recommended.

Panic Attack Advice: Technique 2
Guided visualization is a fairly recent technique for controlling panic attacks and phobias. This technique is often performed with the help of either audio or video aides, such as CDs, DVDs or MP3s.

The sufferer is led through a process of visualizing a peaceful and serene environment in which they are perfectly safe and at ease. Through the use of colorful visual imagery, and sometimes NLP techniques to induce a state of relaxation similar to hypnosis, the sufferer can find themselves immersed in a much more pleasant and relaxed state of mind, which in turn, causes panic attacks and anxiety to dissipate.

While guided visualization is slightly more complicated (because it requires an external “guide” in the form of a CD or DVD), it is sometimes considered the most powerful relaxation technique to overcome feelings of panic.

Psychologist, therapist and holistic healers have all used some variation of the guided visualization technique to assist patients experiencing panic attacks or phobias. Overall, the effects of this technique have proven to be very useful, and there is some evidence that the technique improves in efficacy as the patient gets better at using their imagination to “create” a different state of mind.

Both of these techniques represent excellent panic attack advice. They require little in the way of external support, and do not rely on medications in order to bring the panic attacks under control.

Using Hypnosis For Weight Loss by Ann Marier

There are a number of different reasons as to why you should at least consider using hypnosis for weight loss, and the most primary and the most obvious reason would be that of how successful this weight loss method is. The idea of using hypnosis for weight loss has actually only really come out in the past few years, but it has gained incredible popularity in that short time.

More About Hypnosis for Weight Loss

There are many things that need to be known about hypnosis for weight loss before one goes and tries it for themselves; after all, there is not necessarily danger with any type of hypnosis, however you do need to realize that it is someone that is playing around with your mind, and so things can happen and side effects have occurred with people who have been hypnotized.

However for the most part, hypnosis for weight loss is a really great thing, and so if you are one of the many people out there that are trying to lose weight right now and having troubles, then you will absolutely want to consider this option.

Just make sure that you speak with your doctor first, and as well have a couple of appointments with the hypnotists that you are considering, so that you can get to know them better and thus make a wiser decision on who you would like to go with.

Hypnotists are known for being able to help with a variety of problems, for instance besides weight loss there is smoking and anorexia which are both two serious problems that are known to be able to be dealt with through hypnotism.

However many doctors say that you should only try this method after all of the other methods have been exhausted, and so whether or not you believe this to be true, you should still at least take it into consideration.

You can also bring a friend or family member with you to your appointment if that makes you feel more comfortable, and who knows, you just might make them want to go see a hypnotist as well. Also keep in mind the positive fact that hypnotists are not necessarily all that expensive, and so you certainly do not have to break the bank if you want to go see one, which is definitely a positive thing.

Ann Marier writes informative articles on general health issues providing helpful tips and advice. Her latest articles are about the different weight loss programs including a vegan weight loss program

Stop Smoking Hypnosis, Try It Today by Tommy Tompkins

Hypnosis is thought to work by dissociation, when the behavioral control sector is temporarily separated from ordinary awareness, or from an unconscious decision by the subject to act as if he is out of control when he is, in fact, not.

Certain people can be hypnotized more easily than other people. In studying the human brain both under hypnosis and under normal consciousness, researchers learned that specific parts of the brain are more active under hypnosis in those people who are more easily hypnotized, in comparison with people who are not as easily hypnotized. No difference was found when the brains were not under hypnosis, suggesting that the brain functions differently when it is under hypnosis.

During a hypnosis session to quit smoking, the hypnotist makes suggestions to the smoker who is hypnotized. Control of his behavior is not required for this. Under hypnosis the brain does not analyse what is being told and it agrees to everything without complaint.

Hence if the person is told that he does not want to smoke anymore, after the person wakes he will definitely know that he is not willing to smoke. There is no dilemma then about whether I want a cigarette or not? He may feel the urge to smoke time and again but he will be aware that these are just the effects of an earlier addiction that is no longer existent.

Hypnosis can aid in stopping smoking as well as address the issue of weight gain at the same time.

Before using the services of a hypnotist or the CD consider if weight gain will be a factor in your decision and check if this is included.

You cannot be certain as to whether you will be a good candidate for hypnosis before you actually try it, but you can improve your odds. Make your appointment for a time when you can be relaxed and not under a lot of stress. Women should try to avoid making an appointment during the pre menstrual portion of the month.

If your hypnotist recommends you return for a brush-up session after a while, go even if you do not feel you need to. People sometimes relapse even after an extended period, and this might prevent that in your case. If you received a disc to listen to, this session might include other ones for reinforcement.

If one thinks about hypnotism as a way to quit smoking addiction, then it is advisable to canvas your area for recommendations for a good hypnotist. People such as your doctors or any other health practitioner are very reliable sources for advice. People who engage themselves in quit smoking therapies or treatments are the ones who are more likely to succeed; and one of the best treatments one can find is through hypnosis.

Giving Up Cigarettes can be impossible without help. You may want to try to Stop Smoking with Hypnosis. Hypnosis to quit smoking is a safe alternative you can try absolutely risk free. Visit http://stopsmokingadvisor.com/hypnosis-non-smokers-edge/

Existence of Hypnosis in Ancient Civilizations by Orxan Ibadov

History of hypnosis starts from the early ages of history. In ancient times, people used different forms of hypnosis techniques. Below I will discuss the ancient history of hypnosis and how it has been used in ancient civilizations.

In ancient civilizations, hypnosis was mainly used for healing purposes, especially in the religious ceremonies. People who applied hypnosis were referred as the witch doctors, medicine men, healers, shamans etc.

The earliest evidence of hypnosis was found among shamans. Shaman paid special attention to the concentration during the healing. He did not use any chemicals or alcoholic substances in the first 24 hours of the process. Because he needed strong concentration, so he avoided anything distracting.

During the process, shaman made himself as comfortable as possible, which allowed his subconscious mind to become strongly focused. Only after this he started the healing process.

All the activities during the healing process were rhythmic and monotonous. The repetition and constancy allowed shaman’s subconscious mind to become strongly focused which helped him to connect with the spirit of the patients and heal them this way. So, shaman entered in a powerful process of visualization and suggestion during which he willed the sick person to be healed.

The hypnosis experience of shamans has been widely used for creating modern hypnosis models. The father of modern hypnosis – Franz Anton Mesmer researched the techniques of shamans and used them to improve his famous hypnosis theory – animal magnetism.

Hypnosis techniques have been widely used in ancient places such as Egypt, Greece and others. There are lots of helpful hypnosis tips and techniques in an Egyptian medical text – Ebers Papyrus which is the first written record of hypnosis techniques.

In Ancient Greece, there was The God of Sleeping – Hypnos. The words hypnosis and hypnotism come from this Greek name.

Sleep temples played an important role in the ancient societies. People believed the power of sleep temples and went there for healing purposes.

Avicenna made a distinction between sleep and hypnosis. In his “Book of Healing” he talks about the hypnotic process and how one can create conditions in another person to accept the reality of hypnosis.

In ancient civilizations, hypnosis like techniques were used to put people into a sleep, not in a hypnotic trance. Today, it is commonly accepted that hypnosis is much more different than sleep, but the ancient hypnosis techniques are still very helpful for learning and understanding the hypnotic process.

This is an overview of ancient hypnosis history and how it was in the past. Learning ancient hypnosis history allows us to improve the new hypnosis techniques and understand the modern hypnosis better.

Orxan Ibadov is a professional hypnotist who teaches you hypnosis secrets. He invites you to learn the history of hypnosis and discover how hypnosis has been improved from 17-th century to nowadays.

Smoking, Nicotine and Health by Jeffrey Rose

The use of tobacco and its resulting nicotine addiction is responsible for killing more than 430,000 people each year in the United States, more people than die from car accidents, homicide, suicide, fire, alcohol, cocaine, heroin, and AIDS combined. Tobacco use in some form accounts for around one in three of all deaths from cancer in the United States. Smoking is responsible for 83% of all lung cancer deaths. Smoking also causes cancers of the mouth, larynx, pharynx, esophagus, kidney, bladder, pancreas, uterus, cervix, and some leukemia. Cigarette smoking also can cause lung diseases that can be just as serious as lung cancer. Smokers may develop chronic bronchitis, with their airways blocked up with mucous, forcing them to cough frequently; and, of course, smoking can lead to emphysema, making it difficult for the lungs to perform their function of supplying adequate oxygen to the body. People with these problems tend to tire more easily and this influences them to avoid getting the exercise they need to promote their health. Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 65,000 deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
Your heart is at risk. Smoking doubles the risk of heart attacks, and, in addition, is a major risk factor for peripheral vascular disease, which is the narrowing of the blood vessels that carry blood to the leg and arm muscles.
Cigarette smokers die much younger than nonsmokers. Based on data collected from 1995 to 1999, the Centers for Disease Control estimated that adult male smokers lost an average of 13.2 years of life and female smokers lost 14.5 years of life because of smoking. For smokers between the ages of 35 and 70 the death rate is three times higher than those who have never smoked.
Tobacco smoke is a major source of indoor pollution. Secondhand smoke causes about 3,000 lung cancer deaths every year among those who do not smoke, and also is a factor in up to 40,000 deaths related to cardiovascular disease for nonsmokers too. Exposure to tobacco smoke in the home increases the severity of asthma for children and is a risk factor for new cases of childhood asthma.
Tobacco is very bad for the reproductive health of a woman, leading to a reduction in fertility and an increased risk of having a miscarriage. If a woman who smokes conceives a child, she may face the possibility of having an early delivery or even a stillbirth. And women who smoke increase the chance that their baby will have a low birth weight.
See the future if you continue this path. If you would take a moment to think of yourself as getting any of the diseases promoted by a smoking and nicotine habit sometime in the future, note how painful it would be for you, both physically and psychologically. Think, for a moment, of how much unhappiness it would create for you and your loved ones, and how it would keep you from enjoying the more healthy life that is yours after you have become a permanent nonsmoker. It is important to fully understand and feel, both consciously and subconsciously, just how negative a nicotine habit is to your overall enjoyment in life so that your mind, both conscious and subconscious, knows, without any delusion, just how much intense suffering will come to you unless you change your course in life.
Now make that picture dimmer and less bright and move it away from you, and watch as it grows darker and smaller. Take a moment to see yourself free of your nicotine addiction in the future. Look at how much healthier you look and feel. You can breathe freely and enjoy the fresh air entering your lungs. Your skin is healthier and you look younger at an older age, while your clothes smell fresher and cleaner. You are totally free of all the physical problems smoking would have caused you. When thought about in this way, it is more pleasurable to not smoke. You’ve found other healthier ways to get pleasure and reward yourself. In fact, cigarettes are now truly disgusting to you. As you see yourself a tobacco-free person, notice, now, that you’re feeling fine, you’re so relieved, you’re so much more at peace, you’re so much happier, so much healthier, and now you’re freer to be who you really want to be. Notice how much more personally self-confident and filled with personal self-esteem you now look and feel.
You may not fully know this, but the positive changes that result from becoming a permanent nonsmoker come sooner and are more pervasive than you ever imagined, making smoking cessation more immediately rewarding for you. Twenty minutes after you have quit, your blood pressure drops back down to the level just before your last cigarette and the temperature of your hands and feet increase toward a more normal level. Eight hours after you have quit the carbon monoxide level in your blood will have returned to a normal level. Just 24 hours after you have stopped smoking, your chance of a heart attack will already be decreasing. In the following weeks your circulation will be improved and the functioning of your lungs, even as soon as several weeks to 3 months’ time, will have improved by 30%. In subsequent weeks you will be able to look forward to other significant health improvements. Sinus congestion, shortness of breath, and coughing will have decreased. The cilia function within your lungs will return to normal, enabling you to deal with mucous and clean the lungs, and thus reduce any infection. One year after quitting, your extra risk of heart disease will be half that of someone who has continued to be smoker. After 5 years the risk of a stroke can be reduced to that of a nonsmoker. Ten years after quitting smoking your lung cancer rate will be half of that of someone who has continued to smoke, and your risk of cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus, pancreas, kidney, and bladder will all have decreased. Fifteen years after you have quit and become a permanent nonsmoker your risk of coronary heart disease will have fallen to that of someone who does not smoke. A 35-year-old man who becomes a permanent nonsmoker will, on average, increase his life expectancy by 5.1 years. And, of course, the quality of his life will be greatly increased during all his years, no matter how long he lives. Even smokers who quit after age 50 substantially reduce their risk of dying early. The argument that it is too late to quit smoking because the damage is already done is just not true.
It is important for people to know that nicotine is as addictive as cocaine and heroin. As matter of fact, it works to create and maintain an addiction in a way that is similar to those drugs. The addictive nature of nicotine is created by its ability to release dopamine in the brain, a chemical that creates feelings of pleasure. This is similar to the physiological and psychological effects of both cocaine and heroin. Recent research has shown that there is also some chemical in cigarette smoke that reduces the level of monoamineoxidase (MOA), which plays a role in breaking down dopamine. This helps create an overall increase in dopamine and thus contributes to the desire to keep taking more nicotine.
Cigar smokers who inhale absorb nicotine as rapidly as a cigarette smoker, while those who choose not to inhale absorb a significant amount of nicotine through the lining of their mouth, as do those who use smokeless tobacco. Even though these smokeless users do not hurt their lungs because they do not inhale tobacco smoke, the nicotine from their habit is still very highly addictive and causes the heart to beat faster and their blood pressure to go up. Chewing tobacco hurts a person’s ability to taste and smell, often causes damage to gum tissue, and can even result in the loss of teeth. More seriously, chewing tobacco is full of cancer causing chemicals that can give people cancers of the mouth, pharynx, larynx, and esophagus. Many people who get these particular cancers were users of chewing tobacco. So powerful are the cancer-causing chemicals in chewing tobacco that even very young users get these cancers.
Nicotine’s effects are short-lived within the body, leading people to continually give themselves more during the day. Eventually, the continued use of nicotine leads to what is referred to as tolerance. The drug is no longer as effective as it was, and people need higher and higher amounts of it just to get the same physiological and psychological effects that they experienced earlier. That is why people tend to increase their usage of nicotine-delivering substances the more they have been using them.
There are even short-term effects related to tolerance. Nicotine disappears from the body in a few hours and some tolerance is lost overnight. Smokers often report that the first cigarettes of the day, newly introducing nicotine to the body after several hours of forced abstinence during sleep, have the strongest effect and are enjoyed the best. As the day goes on, and they smoke more and more cigarettes, tolerance is created, and each cigarette has less effect.
Nicotine also suppresses the production of insulin by the pancreas, which acts to raise blood sugar and causes the liver to release glycogen into the blood. In addition, cigarettes themselves are actually between 8% and 18% sugar, so smokers who puff a cigarette frequently during the day are actually given themselves blood sugar-raising hits throughout the day. All this contributes to smokers experiencing a slight sugar high from increased blood glucose. As a result of all of this many smokers also experience a lessening of appetite. This may explain why people gain weight after stopping smoking. They are trying to maintain their prior elevated glucose level, which was found to be pleasurable. Any craving that a new nonsmoker might experience is most noticeable in the morning and mid-afternoon, when low blood sugar is no longer blocked by smoking.
Nicotine is biphasic in nature. It can both stimulate and relax a person, depending on how they smoke. Nicotine doesn’t work in the body the same way alcohol does, but they both exhibit biphasic activity. People often become uninhibited and more excitable after drinking, while at other times they may become sedated and eventually fall asleep.
Cessation of nicotine intake results in withdrawal symptoms that strongly influence anyone trying to end their tobacco use to start consuming it again. These symptoms can include headache, irritability, restlessness, tiredness, feelings of depression, poor concentration, and anger and frustration. While the most powerful influence on withdrawal is the pharmacological effects of nicotine, many behavioral aspects affect the nature of the withdrawal symptoms. For many smokers, the sight, feel, and smell of a cigarette and the rituals involved in obtaining, handling, lighting, and smoking the cigarette are all strongly associated with the pleasure of smoking and when absent can contribute to psychological feelings of withdrawal. While nicotine gum and patches can act to alleviate the pharmacological aspects of withdrawal, some cravings may persist because of these missed behavioral aspects of smoking. This is a problem in quitting smoking that can be easily dealt with and greatly minimized through the use of hypnosis.
One of the clearest indicators of the power of the effects of nicotine is that while over two-thirds of all tobacco users want to stop using it only a small number are able to do so permanently. Each year, nearly 35 million people make a concerted effort to quit smoking. Only 20% of those trying succeed in abstaining for as long as a year and only a small percent of these are able to do so by using willpower alone. Less than 7% succeed in abstaining for more than a year. Most of those trying to stop start smoking again within days.
Over 90% of smokers who try to quit without seeking treatment fail, with most relapsing within a week. Most smokers take several attempts to quit before they finally succeed.
To reduce the risk of lung cancer and other related cancers that are caused by smoking, smokers need to stop smoking completely. It has been found that the amount of carcinogens inhaled remains high even as they cut back on the number of cigarettes they use. Research has shown that this even applies when smokers are supplementing their intake of nicotine with the use of patches. The reason this is true is believed to be that the smokers inhale more deeply on the fewer cigarettes they do smoke to feed their addiction and the nicotine patches made little difference in how long and deeply the users inhaled the smoke from their cigarettes. Thus, the patches made little difference in the overall amount of carcinogens introduced into their bodies by their smoking habit. The conclusion is that patches do not significantly decrease a smoker’s risk of cancer. Possible theories as to why this is so is that patches fail to provide the high that the smokers desire, nor do they provide a substitute for the enjoyment that people get from the act of physically enjoying a cigarette. Another reason may be addictive compounds found in cigarette smoke that aren’t in the patches.
Sometimes in life failure is not necessarily an indicator of the difficulty or even the impossibility of accomplishing something. It just tells you what doesn’t work. Fortunately, seeing a qualified certified hypnotist is effective for changing a smoker into a nonsmoker for life. Not only do they become nonsmokers, but they do so more easily and comfortably then they ever expected. With the new cooperation of their subconscious they are able to lose their desire to smoke cigarettes and cigars. There is some physiological discomfort during the withdrawal period following the cessation of tobacco use, but with hypnosis these effects can be mitigated and the period of discomfort shortened. Hypnosis is also able to greatly reduce and even eliminate any tendency to gain weight after smoking cessation. In my clinical practice, I typically see clients only once for complete and permanent smoking cessation.

Create Your Personal Smoking Cessation Plan by Ashante Johnson

You can create your own smoking cessation plan. You do not have to write it down, but you can if you think that would help. You can choose any method that you feel would work for you. You know yourself better than any doctor. Cold turkey is one possibility, or hypnosis, or nicotine gum and nicotine patches. There are also non-nicotine alternatives, such as biomagnetic earrings and plastic cigarettes. Choose only the smoking cessation aids you know can realistically follow.

After you have chosen your method or methods, and obtained your supplies, it is time to really get down to planning. If you can find the answers to the following questions, you can succeed. Answer the questions, and choose action steps to take when these situations arise, as they will undoubtedly do.

1. What will I do about severe cravings? Will I call a friend, go for a walk, take a shower? Choose several things you think will help, and be on the lookout for other ideas.

2. What related behaviors make me want to smoke? Should I quit those behaviors? Do them in a way that will not trigger cigarette cravings?

3. Do I need a support group? If so, will it be from family, friends, or friends-yet-to-meet?

4. How will I handle my first setback? My second one? What are some ways I can get re-motivated to try again?

5. What can I do to keep my mind off smoking?

When you quit smoking, your body will go through nicotine withdrawal. You might experience headaches, lack of concentration, tiredness, shakiness, crankiness, moodiness and extreme hunger.

Planning ahead for cravings, setbacks, and lack of motivation is a realistic approach, and one that gives many people success. Most people do not succeed the first time they try to stop smoking. So cut yourself some slack and be prepared to trip on the road to success.

Life is going to hand you difficulties and challenges. If you have a pre-planned list of strategies to use when those times confront you, you will have a better chance at succeeding. Stay as flexible as possible. If one plan does not work, abandon it as soon as possible and try something else on your list. Keep adding to your list. Ask others for their ideas to help you add strategies to your list.

The benefits of quitting smoking begin Within twenty minutes of your last cigarette. Blood pressure, resting pulse, and the temperature of your hands and feet are able to return to normal. Within eight hours, your blood oxygen level will rise to a normal level. Within 24 hours your risk of heart attack will decrease.

Any shortness of breath and asthma symptoms you have are likely to get better within the first two to four weeks after you stop smoking. Everyone who quits smoking signinficantly decreases their likelihood of contracting heart attack, stroke, coronary artery disease, or lung cancer. Even if you have been a smoker for a long time, quitting can lower your chances of getting lung cancer.

Remember that you will reap all these healthful benefits and more. You will attain the smoke-free life if you keep on trying.

If you focus on not smoking again ever for life, it can be extremely overwhelming. But if you focus on not smoking today, you will have a better chance of maintaing your success. Remember it only takes 3 days for the withdrawal symptoms to peak and subside. After a month or two you will no longer want a cigarett. It just takes some time. Once you see how good you start to feel, look and smell without cigarettes, you will want to continue the non-smoking lifestyle.

When Did We Know About The Effects Of Cigarette Smoking by Mike Durand

It seems a day doesn’t go by that we don’t hear or see something about cigarette smoking and the tobacco companies being blamed for the destructive effects of cigarette smoking on our health, is it a bad rap put on the tobacco companies, or a way for the states to collect more taxes. If you haven’t heard the states our increasing the tax on cigarettes, on January 1st Texas increased the tax by a $1.00 a pack to $1.41, New Jersey levies a nation-high $2.58 state tax per pack.

Bangor Maine bans smoking in cars carrying children which went in to effect on Jan.19, it allows the police to stop cars if an adult is smoking while a child under 18 is a passenger. The smoker can be fined $50. Most large companies now have smoke free workplace policies.

So when did we become aware that cigarette smoking was bad for us? It would seem to be on January 11, 1964, when Surgeon General Luther Terry issued a landmark concluding, for the first time, that smoking is a direct cause of lung cancer, heart disease, and emphysema. In 1964, 50-percent of adult males and 46-percent of all Americans smoked cigarettes.

Then on May 27, 2004 the U.S. Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona released a new comprehensive report on smoking and health, revealing for the first time that smoking causes diseases in nearly every organ of the body. Published 40 years after the surgeon general’s first report on smoking, which concluded that smoking was a definite cause of three serious diseases, this newest report finds that cigarette smoking is conclusively linked to diseases such as leukemia, cataracts, pneumonia and cancers of the cervix, kidney, pancreas and stomach.

“We’ve known for decades that smoking is bad for your health, but this report shows that it’s even worse than we knew,” Dr. Carmona said. “The toxins from cigarette smoke go everywhere the blood flows. I’m hoping this new information will help motivate people to quit smoking and convince young people not to start in the first place.”

Statistics indicate that more than 12 million Americans have died from smoking since the 1964 report of the surgeon general, and another 25 million Americans alive today will most likely die of a smoking related illness. It would seem that the tobacco companies have killed more of us than all the wars in history.

So it looks like we have know that cigarette smoking is bad for are health a little over 40 years right, well in my research I found the following information dated 1892 Titled The Destructive Effects of Cigarette Smoking.

Cigarettes have been analyzed, and most physicians and chemists were surprised to find how much opium is put into them. A tobacconist himself says that the extent to which drugs are used in cigarettes is appalling. Havana flavoring for this same purpose is sold everywhere by the thousand barrels. This flavoring is made from the tonkabean, which contains a deadly poison. The wrappers, warranted to be rice paper, are sometimes made of common paper, and sometimes of the filthy scrapings of rag pickers bleached white with arsenic. What a thing for human lungs.

The habit burns up good health, good resolutions, good manners, good memories, good faculties, and often honesty and truthfulness as well.

Cases of epilepsy, insanity and death are frequently reported as the result of smoking cigarettes, while such physicians as Dr. Lewis Sayre, Dr. Hammond, and Sir Morell Mackenzie of England, name heart trouble, blindness, cancer and other diseases as occasioned by it.

Leading physicians of America unanimously condemn cigarette smoking as one of the vilest and most destructive evils that ever befell the youth of any country, declaring that its direct tendency is a deterioration of the race.

Look at the pale, wilted complexion of a boy who indulges in excessive cigarette smoking. It takes no physician to diagnose his case, and death will surely mark for his own every boy and young man who will follow up the habit. It is no longer a matter of guess. It is a scientific fact which the microscope in every case verifies.

He also goes on to list the cost of smoking and I was surprised that one cigarette cost between 5 and 10 cents each, that’s one to two dollars a pack which was a lot of money then.

If the physicians new in 1892 the destructive effects of cigarette smoking why has it taken over 115 years to inform us that the tobacco companies have been poisoning us and we need to quit smoking, could it be the tobacco companies lobbing efforts, who knows, but now that we are aware and the tobacco companies no were aware, they won’t be up to any more tricks to keep us hooked, they even put links on their web sites to stop smoking sites to help us quit smoking.

Guess what if you believe that you under estimate the power of greed, the following is taken from Massachusetts Department of Public Health they are one of only 3 states that require tobacco companies to submit reports and what they found is, that from 1998 to 2004 the amount of nicotine in a cigarette has increased steadily, the study showed that regardless of brand that the amount of nicotine that is actually delivered to the smokers lungs has increased significantly overall, nicotine yields increased ten percent. Marlboro, Newport, and Camel, the three most popular brands with young smokers, all delivered significantly more nicotine, and Kool menthol increased a woping twenty percent.

Nicotine in tobacco is a highly addictive drug that affects nearly every organ in our body with the increased levels of nicotine in cigarettes it makes it more difficult to quit smoking. Smoking is a very powerful addiction, and it can take multiple attempts to quit smoking but you must keep trying, you can successfully quit smoking.

Today we have many resources to help us quit smoking, so lets send a message to the tobacco companies and spend that cigarette money on as many stop smoking programs that it takes.

A lot of the quit smoking programs on line offer full money back guarantee so what do you have to lose except a bad habit and the destructive effects of cigarette smoking on our health.

Lose Weight Be Committed by Roseanna Leaton

To lose weight successfully you have to have commitment. Edward Ugel is the author of a book entitled “I’m With Fatty: Losing Fifty Pounds In Fifty Miserable Weeks” which tells his story about losing weight after his wife recorded him snoring. This was clearly his trigger or tipping point which made him commit to a weight loss regime.

Many overweight people dream about losing weight, but fewer commit to actually taking the necessary steps to actually do it. We do all need the right trigger to set out on our own individual committed path to weight loss.

For some people it is an event such as a wedding or holiday which provides them with sufficient motivation to commit to losing weight. For others it is the final realization that they have absolutely no clothes which fit properly anymore; they are simply too fat to get into them comfortably. Another trigger to weight loss is often cited as being the sight of oneself looking fat and flabby in holiday photographs or perhaps no longer being able to look at their own reflection in the bathroom mirror.

An interesting point to note is that when you talk to people who have lost weight successfully they will almost always have a very clear memory of the exact thing which triggered them to commit to losing weight once and for all. They will also say that they had tried to lose weight “forever” before that momentous tipping point but that they just hadn’t been able to shift those pounds. They just couldn’t get diets to work for them or they just didn’t enjoy exercising or they just couldn’t change their lifestyle to accommodate a weight loss plan.

But as soon as they reached their own tipping point it was as if an on/off switch had been flipped and they just knew that they were going to do it, that they would indeed now lose weight once and for all. The trigger to lose weight successfully actually only takes a second or two although there are usually lots of weight oriented thoughts circling around in your mind prior to that life changing tipping point.

The decision, motivation, tipping point or commitment to lose weight (whatever you wish to call it) is the vital trigger which turns your weight loss dreams into reality. Once you have made that real solid commitment to yourself to lose weight both your conscious and your subconscious minds have a clear goal to work towards.

The way in which your subconscious mind works is that once it has a goal it will move heaven and earth in its instinctive and automatic quest to achieve it. Once a clear goal is set your subconscious mind will act like a pack of hounds on the scent of a fox.

If you want to lose weight, you can wait for your tipping point to happen as and when it will do so, or you could choose to speed the process up with a little help from hypnosis. Hypnosis replicates the dream like state between wake and sleep, when you have access to your subconscious mind. With hypnosis you can deliberately provide your subconscious mind with your ideal weight loss goal, vividly seeing yourself as you want to be – slim, healthy and happy.

How self hypnosis will help you in losing weight fast by peterjune1

Obesity is a disease and it must be treated like a disease. Obesity increases risk of other diseases also like heart problems, diabetes and blood pressure. Studies have shown that more and more people are becoming obese in this generation than in previous generation. Excessive use of cars and motorbikes and lack of any physical exercise is a reason for this. There are also some psychological reasons of obesity.

There are serious psychological repercussions of obesity like depression and lack of confidence. Often we can see healthy kids in schools making fun of over weight kids, boss also not taking obese people seriously, obese man and women having hard time in finding suitable partners for themselves. Obesity takes a toll on personal relationships as well. There are also financial worries that are part and parcel of obesity.

Self hypnosis makes you aware of the things that are going on inside your subconscious mind and helps you in breaking the pattern. Over eating is a kind of thing that we do almost by instinct, so it is necessary to understand the working of subconscious mind.

Self hypnosis will help you in losing weight by giving you the mental strength that is necessary for continuous workout and dieting. Many people start doing exercise and dieting, but they are not consistent enough to achieve any significant result. For self hypnosis to be successful you have to believe in yourself and self hypnosis and you have to be committed for losing weight. Advantage of self hypnosis is that it is not forceful. Self hypnosis changes your habit in a very subtle way, since it involves subconscious mind and you cannot insert anything forcefully in the subconscious mind.

You must not set unrealistic weight loss targets. You should move forward step by step. In many cases, it has been seen that if someone loses too much weight in a very short interval of time, there are chances that if that person is not very strong mentally, he or she may gain excess weight again.

Self hypnosis doesn’t tell you to do things but it encourages you to do the right things that will help you in losing weight fast.

If you take proper diet, you don’t have to do heavy exercise at all. You just have to play your favorite sport or go for jogging. Self hypnosis makes the process of losing weight fun and helps you in staying fit for as long as possible.

Peter jones is the author of this article where he told about some important tips towards the hypnosis for weight loss .

Hypnosis Real

Hypnosis Real

Hypnosis – The Simple Truth Revealed by Alan B. Densky

THE DEFINITION OF HYPNOSIS

Hypnosis is a state of hyper-suggestibility where the conscious and subconscious (unconscious) minds dissociate. It is a state of mind where the subject is more likely to accept the operator’s suggestions.

You have been in hypnosis many times without even realizing it. If you have ever watched a sad T.V. show and reacted with a tear in your eye, you have been hypnotized by the television. You entered a state of increased suggestibility where you uncritically accepted the suggestion of sadness on the TV screen and reacted with a sad emotion, your tear. In other words your reasoning ability, which is contained in your conscious mind, was bypassed. You did not reason that the show was just a play; you accepted the action as being real. So you reacted with real emotion.

WHO CAN BE HYPNOTIZED?

It has been found that all normal people are hypnotizable to a greater or lesser extent. People with less than a 70 I.Q., those of the moron level or lower, generally are not hypnotizable. People who are in an active state of psychosis generally are not hypnotizable. Most senile people are difficult or impossible to hypnotize. I have found in my own private practice dealing with a large number of retired people as old as 85 years of age, that hypnosis is a potent and beneficial method for most people. The person’s motivation is the key to success.

DO I HAVE TO BE A “DEEP” SUBJECT FOR SUCCESS?

For the therapeutic applications of hypnosis we most often deal with, depth of any kind is not required. You can be the lightest possible subject and still receive all of the benefits from hypnosis that the deepest subjects will obtain. I strongly feel that over the years, far too much importance has been placed on how deep a subject is. If the subject is deep, it could be beneficial. This however, is not necessarily the case.

Actually, with the latest hypnotic techniques like Ericksonian Hypnosis and state of the art “NLP” (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), depth is one of the least important aspects, which contribute to success.

ARE THERE ANY DANGERS IN HYPNOSIS AND SELF-HYPNOSIS?

There are basically no dangers to the practice of self hypnosis. It is impossible to “get stuck” in hypnosis. The worst thing that could possibly happen while a subject is in hypnosis is that she might fall into a natural state of sleep for 20 or 30 minutes. She would awaken rested and out of the state of hypnosis.

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT HYPNOSIS

There are many misconceptions about hypnosis. Most of them are due to the stage and television acts. Ironically, it is because of the fact that the television can hypnotize you that these misconceptions are so strongly entrenched in people’s mind.

IS HYPNOSIS SLEEP?

The largest misconception about hypnosis is that it is sleep. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you are asleep, you are unconscious. If you are unconscious, you cannot hear anything. If you cannot hear anything, then the hypnotist cannot help you.

Hypnosis is a state of keen awareness. The subject is wide-awake and aware of everything around her. This misconception stems from the stage hypnotist’s use of the word “sleep” as analogous to the hypnotic state. When the old time hypnotist swung the watch in front of the subject’s face, he told the subject that she was getting “sleepy.” He then told the subject to go to sleep. What he meant was to go into a hypnotic sleep; not a natural sleep.

IS THERE A HYPNOTIZED FEELING?

The second largest misconception is that there is a hypnotized feeling. There is no hypnotized feeling. I repeat, there is no hypnotized feeling. Most people feel very relaxed when in hypnosis, as relaxation seems to be the essence of hypnosis. Some people feel heavy. Some people feel light. Some people have other sensations and feelings. Other people have absolutely no feeling that they are in hypnosis, and believe they have not been hypnotized when they most definitely have.

CAN THE HYPNOTIST CONTROL ME?

NO! The hypnotist cannot make you do anything against your will. There is always an observing ego state. Should the hypnotist make an offensive suggestion; this ego state would reject the suggestion. You will probably come out of hypnosis if the hypnotist makes an offensive suggestion.

CAN THE HYPNOTIST MAKE ME DIVULGE MY SECRETS?

You will not divulge any secrets while in hypnosis unless you want to do so. The hypnotist does not have any control over the subject. Quite the contrary, the subject has more control over herself since at this time she has control over her own subconscious mind. The subject can easily reject any suggestion the hypnotist makes, no matter how simple or complicated the suggestion might be. The subject can open her eyes, emerge from the state of hypnosis, and walk out of the room at any time she chooses.

MUST PEOPLE TELL THE TRUTH WHEN IN HYPNOSIS?

NO! People can lie when in hypnosis.

DO HYPNOTISTS HAVE SPECIAL POWERS AND VIBRATIONS?

This is a common misconception. The hypnotist does not have any special powers, nor does he have any special vibrations with which to hypnotize you. Actually, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotist leads the subject into a state of hypnosis. In other words, the ability of hypnosis is in the subject.

WHY DO PEOPLE FAIL TO REACH THEIR GOALS USING HYPNOSIS?

Perhaps the biggest reason for the inability to reach one’s goals through hypnosis is an inadequate amount of practice where self-hypnosis is concerned. The greatest reason for the return of a symptom or “relapse” is the premature discontinuance of hypnosis with the Hypno-therapist or recorded program.

While self-hypnosis is important, it is generally the hetero-hypnosis with the hypnotist or the recording which has the greatest impact upon the subconscious mind. This is because of the training and experience of the hypnotist vs. the lack of training and experience of the client.

Some people are penny wise and pound-foolish. They mentally set an amount of time or money that they are willing to spend for help. And then they prematurely discontinue their sessions because, “I can’t afford it.” Or, “I didn’t lose 50 Lbs. in two days.”

If a person or method is really helping you to make your desired changes, then it is priceless and it should be continued. It is for this reason that follow up hypnosis is generally recommended even after a symptom seems to have disappeared completely.

Self-hypnosis should be an ongoing affair on a daily basis. Ultimately, YOUR SUCCESS IS UP TO YOU!

WILL I BE BETTER OFF HIRING A HYPNOTIST, OR WILL PURCHASING A RECORDED PROGRAM WORK BETTER?

That is an excellent question. Normally I would recommend that you utilize the services of a reputable hypnotist. The reason is that by meeting with you, a good hypnotist / NLP’er will be able to customize his approach to your personality and your favored representational system — the way you favor taking in information through the senses to make sense out of it and react to it.

In my opinion, 99% of the recorded hypnosis programs available today are strictly “Traditional Hypnosis,” and consist of only one or maybe two sessions of it at that.

Traditional Hypnosis is nothing more than a set of direct commands: “If you eat a brownie you’ll barf.” Or “You won’t have cravings,” etc. This technology has an exceptionally poor track record of success because everyone of our generation has been taught to question everything. That’s why you, your friends, and your kids usually do the opposite of what they are told to do.

That being said, having private sessions with any Hypnotist / NLP’er who has enough experience to be able to actually help you can be very expensive. There are some pre-recorded hypnotic programs based on Ericksonian Hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) that have overcome those shortcomings.

They’ve done this by utilizing a mix of Traditional Hypnosis, Ericksonian Hypnosis, NLP, and the highly regarded Video Hypnosis technology. These are all technologies that are designed to eliminate the resistance factor. In fact, Video Hypnosis and the NLP technology that it’s based on, do not utilize suggestion at all. They rely on using the thought processes that have created a problem, to eliminate it!

Look for vendors who offer these technologies in multi-session products. These are programs that generally have six to eight different sessions, so you are exposed to a broad range of methodology. It takes a lot of work to make this type of program, but the high success rates are well worth it.

Stay away from the “one size fits all” — “do-or-die” hypnosis CDs and downloads. Many people are attracted to these programs because they are cheap, usually between $10.00 to $30.00. But is it cheap if it just wastes your valuable time and doesn’t work?

If you try something and it doesn’t work, then you get wary and start to expect the next approach to fail. And you get what you expect. Do you really think that the same exact commands will work for everyone? Do you think that they will work for you? Do you usually do exactly as you are told? Or do you feel the desire to do the opposite of what you are told to do?

Is Hypnosis for Weight Loss a Fad? by Roseanna Leaton

I came across a post on a weight loss web site this morning which grasped my attention and I simply felt I had to do my best to set the record straight. Unhappily for me, and many other hypnotherapists, the author made a very valid point.

The author had come to the conclusion that hypnosis for weight loss was just a fad. Now, before we go any further I want to say that I do not agree with this statement. However, I can see how they had arrived at their decision. Their article pointed out the inevitable fact that to lose weight successfully you have to change your lifestyle. In fact, this is what they said:-

“Having a healthy body is not a onetime investment. You need to change your lifestyle in case you want to lose weight. All these claims that are being made about weight loss and hypnosis have no back up proof! Everyday there is some or the other “new and improved” way to lose weight that attracts hordes of people towards it. But, ultimately one has to return back to the basic, eating healthy food and exercising. Hypnotism is one such FAD that is getting popularity. Although hypnotism can be used to relax your mind off stress, it really cannot be used to make an individual got from fat to fit. And that is a sure FACT!” (theweightlosstipsite.com)

Unfortunately everything is open to abuse, even those which are good and beneficial. Hypnosis is no exception.

In the right hands, hypnosis can be used to create wonderful benefits as it allows you to connect with the subconscious mind. This means that hypnosis can be used to assist in everything in life which has a psychological element, including ones approach to weight loss.

Hypnosis, per se, is not going to burn up calories or exercise your limbs for you. But it can get you into the right frame of mind to want to exercise, to enjoy exercise and to eat in a healthier manner. Hypnosis can be used to get you to feel more energetic and to see your world from a different perspective.

Successful weight loss depends upon your attitude towards it and if you want to use hypnosis to get your mind around the pesky subject of weight loss then you can do just this. Hypnosis can be used to create a state of mind which is positive, motivated and conducive to success.

Hypnosis can however be abused by the hypnotist or affiliate marketer making unbelievable or hyped up claims and it can also be abused by those who don’t really give it a fair try. Hypnosis is open to abuse from both ends.

If you look to hypnosis to “do it for you” you are not giving it a real shot – “trying is lying”. Do you try to go to the gym or do you go to the gym? Do you try to go shopping or do you just shop? There is a BIG difference in the outcome which you experience and it all hinges on how you prepared yourself mentally right at the beginning.

I can see how someone could come to the conclusion that hypnosis is a fad; but in defense of hypnosis I have to say that this is not everyone’s viewpoint. Hypnosis is only a fad approach to weight loss by those who treat it as such.

For those who really want hypnosis to work for them then I urge you to read up on the subject. Look at all the scientific research into hypnosis which is readily available; arm yourself with information and then make an informed choice as to whether you can make hypnosis work for you. I’m not going to point you to a particular place; the information is out there for you to find and to make your own decision about.

Hypnosis is not a quick fix. It’s a natural tool which allows you to see things from a different angle. If you only use it as a quick fix, then you are the one who turns it into a fad instead of a valuable and beneficial therapeutic aid.

Quick, Simple Weight Loss Tips by

With my fitness clients I am often asked questions relating to weight control. From dropping a few pounds to big New Year’s resolutions after the holidays, people want to know how to get slimmer
and stay that way.

The first step in achieving and maintaining a healthy
weight is making healthy choices that fit your lifestyle and allow you to do what you already
enjoy.

Here are a few of the most common weight loss question I get:

How do I know I’m at a healthy weight?
The best answer is “How do your feel?” If you are happy, energetic and able to move your way through the day with ample energy reserves you are more than likely a decent weight. From here, it’s just a matter of fine tuning yourself. That is, a fitness or walkin program or perhaps a small tweak in your diet such as switching to low fat milk products.

If you do not feel like this, then the first place to start is a body mass index. Body mass index or BMI is a guideline for helping one to judge their body weight. A BMI over 27 is considered overweight. The higher the BMI is above the normal range, the greater the degree of overweight for an individual.

People with a higher percentage of body fat tend to have a higher BMI, except for individuals such as body builders, because muscle weighs more than fat.

Carrying excess body fat puts you at risk for health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. Here is how to calculate BMI.

1. Take weight (in pounds) divide by height (in inches).
2. Divide the results in Step 1 by height (in inches).
3. Multiply the result in Step 2 by 703 = Body Mass Index (BMI).

Can I lose weight by counting fat grams or calories?
You can, but it will drive your crazy. Long term changes require smarter choices. Change to low fat milk and dairy products or whole grain breads.

If you want to count calories understand your calorie intake must be less than calories burned. Portion size is also important to any healthy eating plan. Large servings of even low-fat foods can contribute to weight gain.

Is a weight plateau bad?
A plateau during a weight loss program is normal. Your body requires fewer calories to function as you lose weight. Everyone’s body levels off at a different weight. Gradually increasing physical
activity can help you to continue to lose weight during a plateau. The bottom line is any physical
activity helps you toward a healthy lifestyle.

What is the best way to lose weight?
Slow gradual weight loss is the healthy way to lose weight. The secret to successful weight control is not only losing weight it is maintaining the weight loss permanently. A good aerobic fitness program, which means as little as 30 minutes of walking 5 days a week, will keep you in good shape.

Weight Control Tips
Be realistic – make small changes over time.
Be flexible – balance what you eat and what you do.
Be sensible – eat foods in moderation.
Be active – don’t forget to move!

Motivation: The Key To Lifelong Weight Loss And Health by

A client of meine recently dropped me an email with the following question:

“How do I keep myself motivated? I’ve recently been on a bit of a downward spiral, and I’m trying to pull
myself out of it. Is there a workout routine or some kind of mental exercise I could do to make myself more psyched and into things? Thanks!”

This is common in both fitness and weight loss programs. Being human we all have our ups and downs. First, it is important to recognize our human qualities. When this occurs we can slow down and “go
with it” until we feel movtivated again. After all, a good program is to be incorporated into our lifestyle. We want to use it for the rest of our lives and we all go through ups and downs. Find a
groove with it and flow along. The important thing here is to not drop your program when you do this,
just adjust it until you feel motivated again.

The other approach is to set out to find a new motivation. Again, life is full of ups and downs and
for some of us, when the “downs” come we need to find a new way to keep us charging to our goal.

If you are looking for motivation to get something done … think of a reward for completeing that
something and stick to giving yourself that reward. If you just need more motivation about life in
general then a quick bout of exercise first thing every morning should help you start your day right.
You can use the exercise time to focus your mind and body on being healthy which should help you get
a better outlook on life in general.

One of the great motivators is surprisingly, exercise itself. Studies show exercise can improve mental
abilities in the elderly and go some way to preventing mental decline. Scientists found mental abilities, or cognitive functioning, improved with exercise.

The reason for the link is unclear, but the researchers believe it could be linked to the fact
exercise improves the body’s ability to pump blood and blood’s oxygen-carrying capacity. The findings were a side benefit of research comparing the effects of exercise and drugs in fighting depression.
Improvements were seen “above and beyond” what was expected after the depression had lifted.

James Blumenthal, a psychologist at the Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina,
said one of the key findings was that exercise had beneficial effects on functions controlled by specific areas of the brain. Memory, planning, organisation and juggling different tasks all improved under the study.

The implications are that exercise might be able to offset some of the mental declines that we often
associate with the ageing process. So it may be that just as exercise improves muscle tone and function, it may have similar effects on the brain.

So what does this mean for you? It means that even with a down cycle in your life a brisk 30 to 45 minute walk each day might begin a long term countereffect of your downward cycle. Take a walk. If you are fit do a slow jog instead of a breath gulping run. The conclusion is, stay with your programs even when you are depressed or in a dwonward cyle. Look for new motivations and rewards for yourself as you progress out of it and into a new, upward cycle.

If You Want To Quit Smoking, Hypnosis Is The Healthiest Method by Joanne Fallwater

Are you concerned about your health? If you want to quit smoking, hypnosis is the healthiest method. Just think about it for a minute. A quit smoking hypnosis program will teach your healthy habits that you can use for life. But quit smoking drugs have potentially dangerous side effects.

But just as dangerous can side effects be? After all, a lot of the drugs have to be prescribed by a doctor. Doesn’t a doctor’s supervision automatically make taking drugs to quit smoking safe? And aren’t they worth it if the end result is that you don’t smoke anymore?

First, you have to understand that all drugs have side effects. And some of them are more serious than others. You’re already addicted to nicotine, which is a heavy-duty poison. Did you know nicotine has been used for centuries as an insecticide to kill insects?

Well, when you use a nicotine patch or nasal sprays that are compounded with nicotine, you’re still delivering that poison into your system. True, you’re getting doses small enough that they won’t kill you as long as you follow the directions carefully.

But a long-time smoking habit isn’t just about the physical addiction to nicotine. People who have smoked for a number of years to develop “smoking rituals”. Those are the small actions that get repeated every time you smoke.

They are small things, like the way you hold your hand when you smoke your cigarette. Do you hold your cigarette between your index and middle fingers? Or do you like to hold it between your thumb and index finger?

You keep your lighter in your pants pocket? How many times a day do you reach for your lighter? Do you think it’s a coincidence that when you reach for your keys in your pocket, you suddenly crave a cigarette?

It’s no coincidence. Putting your hand in your pocket has become part of a “smoking ritual” that triggers your urge to smoke. Even if you just finished smoking a cigarette a few minutes ago, when you put your hand in your pocket again, you’ll think about having a cigarette.

That’s where the nicotine replacement drugs, like the patch and the nasal sprays and inhalers, can become dangerous. They take care of the physical cravings, but they don’t address the smoking rituals. So a lot of people end up using the quit smoking drugs, smoking their cigarettes or cigars on top of it.

That puts them in danger of having a nicotine overdose. Just because you don’t drop dead on the spot from smoking a cigarette or cigar, doesn’t mean that you can’t overdose on nicotine. You can. Not only can an overdose of nicotine make you violently ill, it can kill you on the spot. Like a dead bug hit with insecticide.

And what about the quit smoking pills? You can’t get them without a prescription, so you would think that they would be safe. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Even under a doctor’s supervision, some of the drugs themselves are just not safe.

If you take the time to read the list of potential side effects that these drugs can cause, it will make you think twice about taking them. You want to quit smoking because you want to be healthy. But do you really want to risk damage to your heart, liver, kidney and other internal organs while you’re in the process of quitting smoking?

There are other safer methods to quit smoking that don’t have any kind of physical health risk at all. No, you don’t have to quit smoking cold turkey. Hypnosis has the best long-term success rate of any of the methods that people use to quit smoking. And the side effects of using hypnosis, long term are actually good for you.

A good hypnosis program will give you tools to help ease the nicotine cravings. You’ll also learn ways to deactivate those “smoking ritual” triggers. And that’s really important for long-term success.

The Atkins Diet And How It Works by Alan B. Densky, CH

The Atkins Diet is a popular “low-carbohydrate” weight loss system, but it is often greatly misunderstood! Popular, but slightly exaggerated depictions of the program portray dieters devouring nothing but huge quantities of meat and fat. Although the program is not quite that simple, many dieters under the plan have successfully lost weight and improved their health.

On this plan, dieters follow a very specific regimen based on limited carbohydrate intake. The nutritional aspects of the diet are emphasized over exercise and other factors, although getting physical activity is also important to weight loss. There are four phases in the Atkins plan:

Induction: For the duration of this two-week phase at the beginning of the diet program, dieters can only have up to 20 grams of carbs each day. Dieters can consume high protein foods such as meat and poultry, fats such as oils and butter, and other food with little to no carbohydrates. Many foods containing carbs are not permitted at all during this phase, including alcoholic beverages.

This initial phase is intended to help the body go from burning carbs for energy, as it normally does, into burning fat stored in the body (the state called ketosis). Most dieters start to lose pounds during this phase.

Ongoing Weight Loss: During this stage, dieters gradually increase their carbohydrate intake by adding 5 grams of carbs into their diet each week. Dieters fine-tune their diet, continuing their weight loss to put themselves within 5-10 pounds of their goal weight, before transitioning into the Pre-maintenance phase.

Pre-maintenance: Dieters use this phase to find out the maximum amount of carbs they can ingest without gaining weight. During this stage, dieters increase carb intake by 10 grams a week. Once dieters reach their target weight and can keep it stable for a month, they move into the Lifetime Maintenance phase.

Lifetime Maintenance: For lasting results, the Atkins program is supposed to be maintained throughout the dieter’s lifetime. Using the techniques that helped the dieter reach their goal weight, the dieter develops an eating and exercise plan to stay at their goal weight. Individuals can revert to previous stages if they ever start to regain weight.

Dieters who can commit to the Atkins diet are typically successful in losing weight; unfortunately, many people cannot follow the program and end up quitting early on in the difficult induction phase. In general, most diets fail simply because dieters cannot stay on the plan.

Many people struggle to stay on diets because they experience strong food cravings, have problems with compulsive overeating, cannot regulate their appetites, or simply do not have the motivation to lose weight. Overcoming these mental obstacles is the hardest part of losing weight.

One reason why many people cannot seem to manage their eating is because they are emotional eaters. Such people eat in response to their feelings, such as when they are sad or angry. However, this habit programs a “conditioned response” into the unconscious mind. This means that when people experience the same emotion that made them overeat initially, they will feel compelled to overeat again.

Hypnosis works by helping our unconscious minds disassociate our emotions from our eating habits. To eliminate the conditioned response to overeat, a hypnotherapy weight loss program is used to break the link in the unconscious mind between overeating and certain “trigger” situations.

For instance, if you tend to overeat when you feel bored, hypnosis can disassociate boredom from eating in your unconscious mind. Hypnotherapy techniques can then be used to replace the compulsion to overeat with another activity, such as exercising. That way, the next time you experience boredom, instead of going to eat, you will feel motivated to exercise, resulting in natural weight loss.

Hypnosis is an excellent tool for stress relief as well, helping us deal with our stressful emotions and relieve tension without eating. As a relaxation tool, it calms the mind, helps you use new strategies to cope with stress, and boosts your self confidence to motivate you to lose weight.

Self hypnosis can also be used to remove the emotional stresses that keep you from losing weight. Many overweight people hide behind their weight for emotional protection. For instance, after ending a relationship, people might find themselves becoming overweight so they can avoid new relationships and avoid having to endure emotional pain again. Through hypnosis, we can think more positively and focus on having better health instead of becoming overwhelmed by our thoughts.

Not only is hypnosis an ideal motivational tool, it relieves stress, extinguishes conditioned responses that trigger overeating, and can help you overcome the mental obstacles that prevent weight loss. Hypnosis is tremendously effective at helping people stick to a diet plan, such as the Atkins program, and naturally lose weight.

Alternative Ways to Quit Smoking This New Year by Danna Schneider

With the ever-increasing price of cigarettes, and volumes of warnings that aim to increase the public’s awareness of the dangers of cigarette smoking, you’d think it would be a no-brainer for smokers to just up and quit the habit cold turkey. However, being a former smoker myself, I know that this statement is neither realistic, nor fair.

Smoking is genuinely an addictive habit, not just mentally, although it certainly is psychologically addictive, but also physiologically, since nicotine is a substance that the body grows used to and craves, and when it is suddenly taken away, the withdrawal symptoms are anything but pleasant.

These withdrawal symptoms are the reason that many smokers never make it past a few weeks quitting the habit. It’s also the reason that quitting smoking is so hard to do, especially the longer you’ve been doing it.

I’ve heard it all when it comes to the creative ways that men and women both will try to kick the habit. Some try the cold turkey thing, although this rarely works unless you have an iron will and are able to naturally cope with the symptoms of withdrawal on your own. Some people try cigarette alternatives, like herbal cigarettes, which are designed to help get rid of the nicotine addiction since they do not contain nicotine.

However, what some people don’t realize is that herbal cigarettes are just as dangerous as smoking real cigarettes, and sometimes even more so, because they still emit carbon monoxide into the lungs and the body, and they also have carcinogenic chemicals that activate once the herbs are burned. One of the alternative cigarettes that is popular is reportedly an especially dangerous option, a tobacco and clove combination.

The cloves become extremely toxic when burned and inhaled into the lung tissue, with the potential to cause pneumonia and even pulmonary edema. They also happen to contain a lot more tobacco content than regular cigarettes, another reason to avoid them.

I’d say avoid herbal varieties of cigarettes all together if you can, even as a quitting mechanism, and instead opt for maybe a supplement or a patch to help you get through the rough patches, or try another alternative such as hypnotism. Hypnotism is one of my favorites. Self hypnosis has worked for scores of people to help them kick the habit once and for all.

It works by way of subconscious suggestion, on a subliminal level, and creates a strong desire to quit that is powerful because it comes from within your mind and is rooted in personal desire. This is one of the best ways to quit since it is truly all natural, and creates a desire beyond just a short time period of quitting that stays rooted in the subconscious for long after you’ve quit.

Of course if you ever feel yourself slipping and craving cigarettes again, you can always do “touch up” sessions of self hypnosis in your own home whenever you feel you need that positive reinforcement again.

Another popular alternative way to quit smoking currently are herbal supplements that are orally taken or adhered to the skin, in a patch form, that work sort of like a nicotine patch does, to transdermally (delivered through the skin) help you through your potential withdrawal symptoms.

The herbs are basically adhered to the skin via a patch which delivers beneficial ingredients through the skin to the blood stream, at time released intervals so you get the symptom control throughout your day, every day, to help ensure that your goals are reached.

Many people who are thinking of quitting smoking worry about the withdrawal symptoms, which include weight gain, irritability, restlessness, increased anxiety (although smoking actually increases anxiety, which many people don’t know), inability to concentrate and many other unpleasantries.

In the end, no matter which alternative method you use to help yourself permanently give up the habit of smoking, it’s going to boil down to a real concern for your health and well being, and a sustained desire to stay away from the potentially life shortening vice.

Only over time will you begin to see and feel the benefits of having clean, clear lungs such as, but not limited to, increased energy, better looking skin and teeth, and increased lung capacity, and that’s what keeps you on the wagon!

You Too Can Learn Self Hypnosis by Joseph Then

Many people are tuning in to the power of self hypnosis. Learning this technique can be a very beneficial way to help calm fears, and alleviate anxiety. Learning self hypnosis helps you learn how to focus better, enhancing your attention span, increasing memory capacity, and enhanced learning by developing better study skills. Self hypnosis is also used by some women to help alleviate pain during labor and childbirth.

There is no reason that you can’t learn self hypnosis too. As with anything new, you will learn at your own pace, so don’t compare your progress with others. To learn it, you should practice it, just as you would any other new skill. It is not something that you can just wake up one day and do, you have to work at it on a regular basis. The more time and effort you put into learning self hypnosis, the better your results will be.

Make a list of what you want to achieve by learning self hypnosis. Having a written list of goals that you want to accomplish, or things in your life you want to change can help you focus and concentrate better. At first, have one main goal to accomplish with each self hypnosis experience.

Planning what you are going to say during your hypnosis is a good way to prepare yourself and focus all of your mental energies on the task at hand.

When listing goals, express the same goal in several different ways so that you can get it clearly etched into your mind.

Talk as you normally would when you start your self hypnosis session. When you get further into the session, gradually slow your speech, and talk in a softer voice. When leaving hypnosis, you can go back to your normal way of speaking.

Location is an important part of being successful with your self hypnosis efforts. You should choose a quiet spot, with dim lighting, maybe soft music in the background, with no interruptions.

Make sure you are fully relaxed before you begin, using deep breathing relaxation techniques if needed. Focus all of your energy of clearing your mind, and just go with it from there.

Learn how to let go of any fears or worries you may have during your sessions. Imagining yourself going down a flight of stairs, of down into a tunnel, can help lure you deeper into your hypnotic state.

Use your creative side to create your own special retreat in your mind; it can be anything from fantasy, to your favorite vacation spot. It is your own individual place, so create what you like and feel most comfortable being in.

When you are finished and have accomplished your goal for the session, count yourself out of hypnosis. You should feel energized and ready to face the world! It may take some time to completely master these concepts, but as you can see, it is a relatively simple process to learn.
