How to Choose a Hypnosis Course by A. Thomas Perhacs

Choosing an appropriate hypnosis course can be a trying situation. There are innumerable aspects you need to consider before opting for one. It is better to ponder on all the points given below if you wish to choose the best among all.

– The first thing you must check upon is the number of hours of training being offered to you. It is better to know initially that out of these, how many will be given for actual classrooms. It is advisable to go for the one, which offers you a minimum of 100 hours in the form of training sessions, with at least 75 actual classroom hours.

– The next point to check is the kind of certification you will receive and by whom. Be very sure to get the certificate on the completion of the course, especially in order to avoid additional classes. Check for the authenticity and the affiliation with a recognized hypnosis association.

– Make sure that the course includes some hands-on training in addition to lectures and notes being provided to you. Without applying the knowledge, you can have only partial gains.

– Enquire about the experience of the hypnotherapist, who will be conducting the lectures as well as training sessions. This gives you an overall idea of the foundation of his or her basic knowledge in the field of hypnosis. You can also ask about the time he or she has spent on practicing hypnosis before being an instructor.

– It is better to ask beforehand that whether you will be able to practice on your own in the state you reside because some states such as Florida and Indiana have very strict rules for the practicing of hypnosis.

– You can also ask for a telephonic interview with the person, who will be in charge of your training. It is always good to be sure of the course than to repent later, i.e., after you deposit the fee.

– You must ask for the details of the course before enrolling yourself. You can do that with a number of online courses and compare them to decide the best one. Make sure that the one selected by you covers all the important topics and aspects of hypnosis.

– There are many schools that teach only a basic style of hypnosis, whereas others offer a vast variety of techniques and hence better prospects. So, why not opt for the one that offers more for practice at the same price.

– It is nice if you can get hold of the opinions of some former students. They will help you to understand the course offered. Also, check whether the institute has been sued by any of them.

– You must enquire about the total cost of the course so that there are no surprises. Unrevealed additional costs are really very annoying and mar the fun of learning. The fee also must include all the study materials, and no extra charges should be there in future.

With all these tips in hand, it will not be difficult for you to evaluate your options.

Black Ops Hypnosis: Underground Hypnosis Course In-Depth Review by Sue Watson

One of the first things that people notice about Underground Hypnosis is that the program is based on a concept that is referred to as Black Ops. This leads many people, at first glance, to think that the basis for Underground Hypnosis is something that is sinister, otherworldly, or even a scam.

A quick review of the material proves that is not the case. While the name may attract a lot of people who think that the purpose of hypnosis is a tool to force people into doing something that the individual does not want to do, the truth is that the program is about quite a different approach.

Taylor Starr has designed a series of sessions that begin with the basics and progress all the way through to using hypnosis as a steady tool to prevent manipulation from other sources. While providing some valuable insight on the way that unscrupulous persons use covert control, the material takes it one step further and turns the situation around.

Instead of being manipulated by others, the application of Black Ops makes it possible to resist those manipulations and also alter the course of the interaction. This type of application makes it possible to exert influence that can improve relationships, create significant opportunities in the business world and in general improve the quality of life.

A large part of Black Ops involves getting inside your own brain and learning what you are capable of accomplishing. During this process of self-realization, the student is expected to get a handle on what type of goals the individual possesses. Black Ops identifies strengths that can be applied to the task of achieving those goals, and understanding how to use verbal and non-verbal communications that result in the willing involvement of other people in the attainment of those goals.

Part Four of the series is entitled “Black Ops Truth Extractor.” The session involves learning to pick up on verbiage that helps the listener to know how true the remarks of the speaker happen to be. Along with identifying indicators that something is not quite on the level, the session also gets into some exercises and verbal interaction that can defuse the dishonesty and prompt the speaker to begin revealing truths about the subject of discussion. If nothing else is gained from purchasing this program, the information contained in this one session is worth the purchase price.

Also of a great deal of use is the section on common control techniques. As with Part Four, the session entitled “The Roots of Covert Control – The Majors” is presented in such a way that it is hard to not begin nodding in agreement while reading the text. Some of the indicators that are identified are so common that many people simply overlook them, out of familiarity. However, the session does not leave it at that. Instead, techniques that can take those triggers and use them to redirect the conversation and the thought process so that the flow of events is more favorable.

A review of the Underground Hypnosis course will quickly demonstrate that the presentation draws heavily from a number of different sources. However, there is not any other place to get all this information in one place. To the credit of the author, the material includes several different approaches but manages to remain coherent throughout all the seven main sessions or parts.

The information is arranged in a manner that allows easy review of earlier sessions when ideas are referred to later in the text. This ease of review is one of the little things about this course that help to make it much more informative and user friendly than many similar courses that are online today.

While some of the terminology and the presentation are a little esoteric, the information contained within Taylor Starr’s materials is factual and definitely worth the cost.

Existence of Hypnosis in Ancient Civilizations by Orxan Ibadov

History of hypnosis starts from the early ages of history. In ancient times, people used different forms of hypnosis techniques. Below I will discuss the ancient history of hypnosis and how it has been used in ancient civilizations.

In ancient civilizations, hypnosis was mainly used for healing purposes, especially in the religious ceremonies. People who applied hypnosis were referred as the witch doctors, medicine men, healers, shamans etc.

The earliest evidence of hypnosis was found among shamans. Shaman paid special attention to the concentration during the healing. He did not use any chemicals or alcoholic substances in the first 24 hours of the process. Because he needed strong concentration, so he avoided anything distracting.

During the process, shaman made himself as comfortable as possible, which allowed his subconscious mind to become strongly focused. Only after this he started the healing process.

All the activities during the healing process were rhythmic and monotonous. The repetition and constancy allowed shaman’s subconscious mind to become strongly focused which helped him to connect with the spirit of the patients and heal them this way. So, shaman entered in a powerful process of visualization and suggestion during which he willed the sick person to be healed.

The hypnosis experience of shamans has been widely used for creating modern hypnosis models. The father of modern hypnosis – Franz Anton Mesmer researched the techniques of shamans and used them to improve his famous hypnosis theory – animal magnetism.

Hypnosis techniques have been widely used in ancient places such as Egypt, Greece and others. There are lots of helpful hypnosis tips and techniques in an Egyptian medical text – Ebers Papyrus which is the first written record of hypnosis techniques.

In Ancient Greece, there was The God of Sleeping – Hypnos. The words hypnosis and hypnotism come from this Greek name.

Sleep temples played an important role in the ancient societies. People believed the power of sleep temples and went there for healing purposes.

Avicenna made a distinction between sleep and hypnosis. In his “Book of Healing” he talks about the hypnotic process and how one can create conditions in another person to accept the reality of hypnosis.

In ancient civilizations, hypnosis like techniques were used to put people into a sleep, not in a hypnotic trance. Today, it is commonly accepted that hypnosis is much more different than sleep, but the ancient hypnosis techniques are still very helpful for learning and understanding the hypnotic process.

This is an overview of ancient hypnosis history and how it was in the past. Learning ancient hypnosis history allows us to improve the new hypnosis techniques and understand the modern hypnosis better.

Uses of Hypnosis – Conditions Where Hypnosis Can Be Helpful by Carolyn Anderson

The uses of hypnosis in the olden times had negative connotation with the idea of putting someone into a spell that will make them do what you say. Today, hypnosis has popular uses in medicine and in dealing with psychosomatic illnesses from skin disorders, menstrual problems to stomach disorders. Even in illnesses where the usual treatment has failed, hypnosis can also be an alternative to find treatment and healing.

Hypnosis can be done in different ways. Most often, when we talked about hypnosis, we often associate it with those ‘spells’ and swinging pendulums but hypnosis can also be done even without the person knowing it. This type is the conversational hypnosis where hypnosis is done through casual talking, which is also used in a lot of aspects of every day life from getting a sale to convincing and persuading people to believe in you.

The most common type of hypnosis that is used in treating medical conditions though is the one where you are assisted by a hypnotist to go into trance state.

For specific uses of hypnosis, let us find out what can hypnosis do to us and when is hypnosis beneficial to our body.

Losing Weight

If you are one of the millions of people who are constantly struggling to get your ideal weight and there seems to be no program or exercise that can help motivate yourself to trim down, hypnosis can be used in helping you relax and enhance motivation and self-control. The hypnosis session may be long term but you can learn the necessary skills to continue on your own.

Fears and phobias

Fears and phobias are obviously makings of the mind and the thoughts and hypnosis has been useful in overcoming them. For some people, a single session can be enough to eliminate their phobias and fears.

Controlling pain

Have you seen those firewalkers who fearlessly tread those burning coals without feeling the pain? One of the many uses of hypnosis is controlling pain in your body. It is even used in giving birth to help ease the pain in childbirth. You can also learn self-hypnosis so you can actually practice it on your own every time you are faced with pain. This is especially true in controlling dental pain which you can overcome through self-hypnosis.

Building confidence

Self-confidence is one of the most essential things we need to have to be able to achieve success in everything we want to do. Lack of self-confidence is most often triggered by thoughts about failing and self-doubts and hypnosis is said to be useful in reprogramming what we think about ourselves as well as changing our undesirable behaviors and thoughts. Athletes have also sought the help of hypnosis in building more confidence to improve their performances. Most athletes have also noticed improvements in their performances immediately when they practice hypnosis.

Managing stress

Hypnosis is also known to relieve stress, and in this case, the results are seen almost immediately. Aside from stress, it is also used in overcoming anxieties and problems in concentration.

If you want to quit smoking and just do not have enough motivation to quit the addiction, one of the many uses of hypnosis is also helping you quit smoking. Improvements are also said to be noticeable in short period of time.

Indeed, hypnosis has become useful in many things in our lives particularly in dealing with a stressful environment and most importantly, in overcoming some illnesses and health issues that sometimes are just created by our thoughts.

Hypnosis Covert

Hypnosis Covert

How Does Covert Hypnotism Work? by Orxan Ibadov

There are different forms of hypnosis. One of them is covert hypnosis. It is different than other types of hypnosis that people are familiar with. So what is covert hypnosis and how does it work?

Covert hypnosis is basically where a hypnotist uses different techniques and strategies to cause change in a person in a subtle and unconscious way. This means that the person who is being hypnotized is unaware of what is happening. It is the main difference in this type of hypnosis and the original way that it is typically done.

The methods that are used for covert hypnosis vary a lot from the way other hypnosis methods are usually done. Some of the techniques can be similar to other hypnosis types, but many of them are much different.

It is obvious that in order for any hypnosis session to be effective, the person must be put into a hypnotic trance. It is common for all types of hypnosis, including covert hypnosis. Both other hypnosis types and the covert type attempt to get a subject into the trance state to make the hypnotic process be effective.

There are also big differences between them. Usually, the person who is being hypnotized is aware of what is happening, but in the covert type the person is put into a trance while having a normal conversation and is not aware of what is going on. That is what makes the covert hypnosis such powerful. There are various methods and techniques that can be used to make this happen.

You should also understand that it is very hard to detect covert hypnosis techniques. Most people who have been hypnotized act on the hypnotic suggestions that were made and they believed that it was their own idea to do it.

This type of hypnosis is used for many different things such as, changing a person’s though pattern, to get emotional responses and to change a person’s behavior. Some people use these techniques to get unfair advantage over others, to sell something and so on. There are many other uses for this type of hypnosis, but these are the ones that it is used for a lot. Therapy is one of the more positive reasons that this is used for. Covert hypnosis is very helpful in hypnotherapy, especially for the clients whom the hypnotist needs to send indirect messages.

Did you know that during this whole hypnosis process the person that is going through it will be awake the whole time? The hypnotic suggestions that are slipped into the mind as they say, “below the radar”.

Now, it is always a good idea to do your research to understand covert hypnosis better. You might even find a professional to speak to about this subject. It will help everyone understand it better. Do not try and do this on anyone yourself, unless you are a professional. So, you should get professional help if this is the type of hypnosis you believe will work for you.

Application Of Hypnosis by Milos Pesic

Hypnosis has a definite value in the practice of medicine, which was shown very early in its history, and as medical men acquire a better understanding of psychology, its value will probably increase. In general practice the technique can be utilized to quiet and reassure the patient and to establish that desirable state of rapport between physician and patient .

In Europe, particularly in Germany and France, it has been used to some extent as a direct surgical aid in both major and minor procedures. In certain patients it can be used as a substitute for drugs in producing anaesthesia, and since the time of Esdaille it has been used repeatedly for this purpose. It has the advantage over anaesthetics of affording the patient peace of mind, a sense of security and confidence, and it has no afteraffects. However, even at the present day its application in the field of surgery should be limited properly to the minor field until the general medical practitioner as well as the laity have a better understanding of psychological manifestations.

It has also been used successfully in obstetrics and undoubtedly would be used much more if there were not such a misapprehensive, fearful attitude toward it. A primary objection to its use by the medical man, remediable by proper study of the practice, is the difficulty experienced in inducing and maintaining trances. No hypnotists know for a certainty whether or not they are going to succeed with a particular subject at a given time or whether their technique for the occasion will be sufficient for the maintenance of the trance. But this is more fortunate than otherwise, since the therapeutic and medical application of hypnosis should not be taken lightly or left in the hands of the dilettante.

In the field of psychological medicine, however, hypnosis offers a unique approach to many mental problems and difficulties. Its value lies in the fact that it allows the physician to approach directly the subconsciousness of the person with its disturbing conflicts. It often serves as a gateway through his resistances and allows indirect approaches to many difficulties which otherwise could not be attacked.

Also of paramount importance is the fact that the hypnotized patient is in a receptive state for psychotherapy. The difficulty involved in getting patients to accept therapeutic suggestions directly constitutes the greatest obstacle in psychotherapy. Hypnosis renders the person receptive. Indeed, as has been mentioned before, it is a state of enhanced suggestibility. Consequently, by means of hypnotism it is possible to implant therapeutic ideas upon the subconsciousness and to have them take effect when endless numbers of suggestions given in the waking state would be given no heed or even actively resisted. Thus the patient accepts hypnotic suggestions and acts upon them without conscious awareness and without building defense reactions. In so doing he allows them to become a valid part of his mental patterns, all the more so since fundamentally, if not immediately, he does desire aid against his conflicts. By this means patients can be given new mental equipment wherewith to deal with their difficulties, a new equipment which does not have to pass the protective scrutiny of their consciousness.

Hypnosis is not to be looked upon as panacea nor is it to be discarded because it has definite limitations. On the contrary, it is a valuable addition to the medical armamentarium, most particularly to that of the psychiatrist.

Perhaps the most fertile and productive application of hypnotism is in the sphere of experimental psychology. More and more laboratories are becoming interested in the peculiar and significant problems which hypnosis renders available for study. This rapidly increasing interest in experimental hypnotism both in this country and abroad may be taken as an indication of a growing realization of the fruitfulness of hypnosis as a field of scientific research. It constitutes almost a virginal territory for psychological investigations, and it appears to offer a good approach to an understanding of many mental mechanisms which have hitherto defied comprehension.

Reasons to Use Instant Self Hypnosis by Dane Bergen

Life can be very stressful and trying for people in general and sometimes it can be hard to cope with what life springs on you. During times where unexpected or unfortunate situations occur, it can be helpful to stay calm or strong using instant self hypnosis. Self hypnosis is where a person uses the techniques they have learned in therapy sessions to self hypnotize themselves into a calmer state of mind. This type of method is not harmful if its use is instructed by a professional who has taught their patient the tricks to instant self hypnosis in order to aid them to deal with difficult situations.

Many people find it hard to react to situations without becoming unnecessarily angry, scared or panicked. This is where instant self hypnosis comes in. It helps the patient recognize the signs that indicate they are losing control of the situation and calms their mind sufficiently in order to deal with the circumstance appropriately. Instant self hypnosis could be used for a person who loses their temper too easily or for a person who has regular panic attacks. It can just be a simple way of calming the mind in every day situations instead of taking drastic measures.

Using Instant Self Hypnosis in Everyday Life

All types of hypnosis become easier with practice and this is why therapists use many sessions in order to help the patient practice the art of self hypnosis. At first this type of hypnosis may take time but with enough practice it can become instant self hypnosis. The therapist leads the patient to find a way of calming their mind, possibly by imagining a safe and calm environment that they visit in their mind when their feelings are about to erupt. Using the same method frequently generally quickens the length of time it takes to achieve the sufficient amount of calm and relaxation. After a certain amount of sessions patients can successfully induce hypnosis in order to stay in control of their emotions. It can be brought on by a simple word or image and get to work instantaneously.

If a particularly aggressive person gets into a row at work, they may need to use their practiced method of instant self hypnosis in order to stay calm and rational. A person who suffers from panic attacks on a regular basis can experience a normal life by using hypnosis the second that they begin to feel panicked and scared. Someone who has no confidence can use this method in order to relax their mind and release the negative energy they are storing in order to confidently talk and perform in front of others. This type of therapy can be beneficial to a wide spectrum of people.

Seduce Hypnosis

Seduce Hypnosis

How the Masters Seduce Their Customers with Word Power to Make Millions! by Don L. Price

It’s amazing just how powerful words are and how little we recognize there enormous power to influence us. Scientific research, over and over again, validates the power of words to seduce our every action.

In the minds of children words can surface in later years, bringing with them scars of horror or bliss and happiness and all the while not knowing there origin.

John Steinbeck’s observation was as he wrote: “These words dropped into my childish mind as if you should accidentally drop a ring into a deep well. I did not think of them much at the time, but there came a day in my life when the ring was fished up out of the well.”

Unquestionable published research, in journals, technical papers and the indisputable proof found in sales and marketing, show that words have tremendous power. Why then do we find it so shocking that the average person has little understanding of how they impact our thinking and actions?

You are about to discover, in this article, the power of words and move beyond popular misconceptions about hypnotic communication.

Deeply embedded in the minds of many people is the notion that hypnotic communication is cleverly concealed in the body language of a person as if they were swinging a magical gold watch to get someone to go into a trance. Unfortunately conceptions or misconceptions are equally among the well-educated as with the uneducated.

Many unsuspecting people are exposed to communication techniques that are clearly structured in the exact same way hypnotists use to put their subjects into an alter state of mind.
For the unwary listener the communication may or may not have the rhythmic sound or monotone a hypnotist would use.

Nevertheless they get charmed into the offering of the communicator. Other factors such as confidence, voice, and body language play a major role in influencing others however, as you will read, the real power comes from words and how the words are strung together.

As you move beyond the sensationalism, experienced while watching a movie or a television show, you’ll discover that every day words strung together have power – both fascinating and frightening.

Leaving all disagreements to the experts, about the perfect definition of hypnosis, there is little to argue about as to the structure and key components.

You could say that all communication is hypnosis. Arguably however, all hypnosis is communication and communicating a message hypnotically bypasses the listeners’ conscious defenses.

Structure is the key:

Hypnosis is a part of everyday life and is clearly evident in daydreaming or what many would call spacing out. You may best understand it as a silent committee meeting actively going on inside your head (silent self talk).

Master communicators such as politicians, sales and marketing people are highly skilled at mesmerizing others. They can have you falling in love with a product by stringing the right words together firing off the imagination of that committee meeting in your mind.

Here are several examples of hypnotic communications:

Look closely at the unsuspecting structure of how a sales person would communicate a message that would hypnotically bypass your conscious defenses.

Sales person’s communication may go like this:

When you own this home you are going to love holding her in you arms, late at night, while sitting by this fireplace. You’ll cherish the wonderful memory for a life time.

Imagine coming home on a cold winter night and snuggling up in front of the warmth of this fireplace.

You are going to be very excited about the safe performance of this car and what it can do for you.

Classical Hypnosis may go like this:

As you relax more deeply on the object you’re on it will begin to feel like you are floating back deeply into a wonderful journey.

You’ll soon discover that your mind will readily absorb all the positive suggestions that I have given you just like sponge absorbs water.

The structure is the same in the sales communication and classical hypnosis but the content and verbal suggestion is quite different. All the suggestions set up expectations in the mind of the listener.

Our imaginations fill in the blanks as to what the expectations are. The choice of words and the order in which you use them has the power to change how people think and influence their actions taken.

If the sales communication was spoken in this manner:

After you buy this house the fireplace will be an asset on a cold winter night.

The statement is cold, dry and gives little expectation to the imagination. As a direct verbal suggestion it’s a big drain for the imagination to try and figure out what the salesperson means by asset. Where as in the hypnotic communication above the listener was given several key post hypnotic suggestions. Opening up the imagination with the words such as home, snuggling up, warmth and holding her, allows the mind to spiral off into deeper fanaticism while entrancing the listener.

Direct verbal suggestions are the most commonly used by people but not necessarily the most powerful way to communicate.

Example: Direct Verbal Suggestion

Get out this week and cast your vote for prop xxx. You will make a difference.

Example: Hypnotic Verbal Suggestion

When you vote this week, for prop xxx, you’ll be proud of making a positive impact and difference in how your money is spent for the education of children.

The key is to understand the psychology of verbal suggestions.

Plant them well into your communications in a nearly invisible way so that your customer cannot resist their own imagination.

It truly doesn’t matter what you are selling. The most powerful and persuasive words in the world will have little effect if not set up in the proper structure.

Hypnosis Mind Power

Hypnosis Mind Power

A Simple And Effective Mind Power Technique by Andrew K Stone

There are many different techniques you can use to tap into the amazing power of your thoughts. I have here for you a simple visualization exercise which becomes extremely powerful when you master it.

Visualization basically means to sustain an idea or image in our mind of what we want to create for a few minutes everyday. A good example can be that sports persons today use visualization just before they compete. They envision themselves successful in whatever sport it is that they play. And the result is that their game improves drastically.

You should know that the subconscious mind can not distinguish between what is real and what is imagined! Take a few seconds right now and close your eyes. Imagine that you are drinking pure lemon juice for example. Then watch how you react.

The visualization should also be in a conscious and controlled manner, and should be as real and vivid as possible. We should be able to feel the desired result taking place right in front of us and it is a skill that must be developed for most people, so some patience is needed.

Here is a simple technique to develop your visualization skills…

1. First relax yourself. The more relaxed you are, the more control you will have over your thoughts.

2. Use the 3-Finger technique. Let the tips of your thumb, index and middle finger touch each other. It should be done on both your hands. This has been known to help your mind focus.

3. Take something simple an outline of a triangle or square maybe, and make a firm resolve to focus only on this for the next 5 minutes or so.

4. Now while you are visualizing, you will notice that your mind keeps wavering about. Do not fight it, because that is counter-productive. Just accept it, and move back to the image you had chosen to visualize.

Regular practice of the above exercise will surely improve your visualization skills tremendously. So there you have it! A simple and effective mind power technique you can start using immediately.

Andrew Stone is extremely passionate and well-informed in the field of Mind Power. You may wish to visit his website if you want a list of resources which will help you discover the power of the subconscious mind…http://www.UnleashMyPower.com

Stroke Prevention. The 7 Major Risk Factors by Graeme Lanham

Stroke is the number one cause of adult disability in the world’s wealthiest countries and the third leading cause of death after heart attack and cancer.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that simple lifestyle changes can dramatically reduce your risk. Read on to discover the 7 top risk factors for stroke and what you can do to prevent them.

But first, what is a stroke and what are the warning signs?

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted and brain tissue is deprived of oxygen and nutrients. Most strokes are ischaemic strokes caused by blood clots blocking an artery to the brain.

About one out of five are caused by a haemorrhage in a blood vessel to the brain. This is a haemorrhagic stroke. It can occur when an artery ruptures causing bleeding into the brain.

A stroke can also happen when a clot from elsewhere in the body becomes dislodged and blocks an artery in the brain {embolic stroke}.

The common symptoms are:

Numbness, weakness or paralysis of the face, arm or leg on one or both sides of the body.
Loss of vision in one or both eyes.
Speech difficulty.
Vertigo, loss of balance.
Sudden, severe headache.
Confusion and memory problems.
Difficulty swallowing.
Seizures or blackouts.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 1.

High blood pressure or hypertension.
Defined by the US National Institutes of Health as a blood pressure reading of 140/90 or higher.
Factors such as a high fat diet, stress and being overweight can narrow arteries. The resulting pressurized blood flow damages artery walls, making the formation of fatty plaque more likely. Plaque can break off and cause blood clots to form according to studies at the Stroke Prevention and Atherosclerosis Research Centre at Robarts Research Institute London, Ontario, Canada.

Normalizing blood pressure cuts the risk of stroke in half. No other preventative measure is as effective. The Mediterranean diet can lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke by up to 60%.This diet calls for five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables a day. It also emphasizes the importance of whole grains, beans, fish and poultry. It suggests replacing butter and cream with olive oil or oils rich in alpha-linolenic acid.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 2.

Smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke.
Cigarette smoke is a bigger risk factor than previously thought. Research conducted at the University of Auckland New Zealand divided people into three groups: smokers, non smokers exposed to secondhand smoke and non smokers not exposed to secondhand smoke.

Researchers discovered that smokers had six times the stroke risk of non smokers and non smokers exposed to secondhand smoke had almost double the risk of other non smokers.

The obvious prevention is to quit smoking. Some success has been achieved with nicotine patches, anti smoking medication and hypnosis.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 3.

Sticky blood or platelet aggregation.
In this process, microscopic components of blood stick together, leading to clot formation. To prevent this, talk to your doctor about taking a low dose aspirin daily. Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation and can reduce the risk of stroke by up to 30% in some people. Vitamin E can improve blood flow and prevent blood clots. It is possibly the most important vitamin for promoting normal blood circulation, healthy arteries and heart.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 4.

High cholesterol level.
High total and/or high LDL ["bad"] cholesterol levels contribute to the narrowing of arteries.
Prevention: Have a blood test. If your total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol are high, ask your doctor to discuss options with you. A number of natural options are available. These include a high fiber diet. Psillium husks and ground flaxseed are particularly high in fiber. Garlic can lower cholesterol levels as well as clean the arteries of accumulated fats.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 5.

Ministrokes.
Before a person has a stroke, he/she might have one or more “ministrokes”, or transient ischaemic attacks [TIAs}. The symptoms are the same as a stroke.

Though TIA symptoms go away, those who have had a TIA have about a 30% risk of having a stroke within the next two months.

Prevention: If you think you have had a TIA, see your doctor without delay. It is possible that you have symptomatic carotid stenosis, a severe narrowing of the carotid artery, the main artery leading to the brain. Endarterectomy, a procedure to clear this blockage, reduces the risk of stroke to 9%.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 6.

High Homocysteine level.
Homocysteine is an amino acid used by the body for many functions including detoxification. Normal blood levels are about 6-8mm for women and 8-12mm for men. As long as the body keeps these levels in check,it is not usually a problem.
According to Dr Kilmer McCully, author of “The Homocysteine Revolution”, this amino acid may be toxic and inflammatory when in excess and can lead to serious consequences including heart disease and stroke. It causes cholesterol to “catch” onto ridges in your artery walls. These cholesterol “traps” are the cause of a fatty build up called “plaque”, thus reducing the flow of blood and causing high blood pressure.

Some research studies have suggested that high homocysteine level is a more critical marker for heart disease and stroke than cholesterol levels.

Prevention: A blood check will determine your homocysteine level. If it is high the dietary supplement folate {folic acid} combined with vitamins B6 and B12 should help. Dietary improvements also help reduce homocysteine levels. Eliminate processed foods, including flour and sugar and eat more fresh vegetables, fresh fruits and whole grains.

RISK FACTOR NUMBER 7.

Heavy Drinking.
This can increase your stroke risk threefold, so it’s vital to limit your intake.
Prevention: A moderate intake of one or two standard drinks daily, may actually decrease your stroke risk.

FINALLY: DON’T IGNORE THE WARNING SIGNS AND RISK FACTORS!

My father died of a stroke at the age of 35. He was strong, physically fit and thought he was indestructible. His warning sign was a severe and persistent headache. Despite requests from my mother to visit a doctor, they were ignored. He rarely suffered from headaches and dismissed it as a passing inconvenience.

John Newcombe, Wimbledon Tennis Champion and former captain of the Australian Davis Cup team, is a stroke survivor.

In his inspirational book “No One’s Indestructible”, he describes how he believed he was “bulletproof”. He had many warning signs and risk factors. He was a smoker, drinker, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was regularly under stress. He ignored them. His description of events leading up to and following his stroke, including his recovery program, makes compulsive reading.

Never start a new treatment before consulting your doctor, especially if you are currently taking medication. Hypnosis How To Hypnotize

Hypnosis How To Hypnotize

How to Hypnotize Yourself Easily by Orxan Ibadov

Self hypnosis is a great way to improve the different areas of your life, but most people do not know how to do this properly. Below, I will discuss the main steps of how you can hypnotize yourself easily.

1- Get it started. Find the most comfortable spot that is free from any forms of distraction. Start the process by breathing slowly and easily. Relax yourself from head to toe. Energies are more powerful in an unperturbed body. Now, ask yourself, “What do I want to achieve at the end if this process?” Once you have decided, your subconscious will work on an issue, not just on the suggestions you will feed your system. Therefore, you also have to make a purpose statement: “I will hypnotize myself to allow my subconscious to guide me in my purpose.” You must add your purpose into this statement. This shall run through your thinking and will be fulfilled after the hypnosis process has been done.

2- Work on the external process. You are now set in a relaxed and undistracted mode. Sustain this condition until the end of the process. Slowly look at three things in front of you, one by one, allowing a pause for each moment. You may look at a door knob, a chair or whatever you can see. Then, you go to the auditory sense using same techniques. After hearing the sounds of your environment, focus on sensations that you currently feel – the texture of your shirt, the sweat that drops down your forehead, etc.

3- Go on with the internal part. Close your eyes and slowly gain the power. If there are distractions, incorporate them in the process; do not allow yourself to get distracted. Become aware of a feeling and name it – “the air that touches my skin”, “the warmth that embraces my body”. Repeat the same procedure on auditory encounters. Expect that there is a new feeling that revives your body, which only means you have gone through the process very well. It will help you to have strong concentration and stay relaxed completely.

4- Follow Hypnotic Inductions. Now, it is time to follow hypnotic induction CDs. You can create the CD yourself if you do it professionally. If you do not have hypnotic voice, hire a hypnotist in your area to do it for you. Another way for getting these CDs is to buy them from online hypnosis stores. Personally, I would recommend buying hypnotic induction CDs from online stores instead recording them at home, as they record these CDs with the help of professional hypnotists. So, most of them have high quality.

Time of the hypnosis sessions depends on the self hypnosis induction you use for the process. For example, if you are hypnotizing yourself just for relaxation, then it will take only 20-25 minutes for the induction, but when you are using age regression induction it will take much more time. Generally, inductions continue from twenty to forty minutes.

After you finish the hypnosis session, slowly open your eyes. Trust that you did not just sleep and your subconscious is already on its way to working out your purpose statement.

Stop Smoking Hypnosis Chicago

Stop Smoking Hypnosis Chicago

Can Your Friends Keep You Smoking? by Wendy N. Lapidus-Saltz

Can another person really make you smoke? Now I don’t mean that first time, when you were 16, and you took that puff because your friends urged you to. I mean now, today, socializing with people who smoke. Do the smokers you know, and love, and spend time with keep you reaching for that thin white stick again and again?

And why are they doing it? Are their intentions evil?

Well, probably not evil. Just a bit selfish. And, more than that, convenient. You see, if you were to stop smoking, you would be proving it can be done. And if you are the same gender as they are, the same age, in the same social sphere, you would prove it even more. And they would no longer have an excuse. They’d feel ashamed. Every time they would think they needed to light up a cigarette, and you didn’t need to, they’d feel more ashamed.

So for the ones who don’t want to change, it’s better to keep you smoking, so you can keep them smoking, proving” to your entire social network, and those who love and nag you, that smokers simply cannot quit. Except for one thing.

I heard this story about a man who had a heart attack. Let’s call him Fred. Fred’s heart attack was serious. He was in intensive care for a while. In fact, he was at Death’s door for a while. And when his friends came to visit, Fred’s wife would stop them before they entered his room. If you have cigarettes with you, give them to me,” she said. A few protested that they certainly wouldn’t give Fred a cigarette, as sick as he was.

I’m sure you wouldn’t,” she said, but this way, if he asks for one you can honestly tell him that you just don’t have any.” That sounded reasonable to them, so they surrendered their packs to Fred’s wife without argument.

Funny thing was she never gave them back. Not ever. It turned out she didn’t happen to be around when they were leaving, and most of them didn’t even remember they had turned them over, and that was that. The longer they hung out with Fred, the less chance they had to smoke.

Another funny thing was, they didn’t remember about smoking for quite a while after leaving Fred’s bedside. Every day these nicotine addicts” smoked less, if at all. By the time Fred left the hospital, five out of seven of his closest friends had accidentally become nonsmokers. Even the remaining two cut down their smoking by half.

Want to quit smoking? Maybe you don’t have a sick friend in the hospital with a clever
wife. That’s okay. Here’s the trick: Spend time with nonsmokers.

You’ve probably heard that if your close friends are wealthy, you’re likely to be wealthy too, even if you weren’t to begin with. Same thing. You lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. You hang out with smokers, you smoke when they do. You hang out with nonsmokers, you don’t smoke too much. You don’t want to sneak out for a smoke because you might miss the next joke or juicy piece of gossip, because your non-smoking aren’t going to hold the punch line till you get back. Or save you that last piece of pie. So you find yourself forgoing that cigarette. And the next. And the next. And pretty soon, you may not smoke at all. Worth a shot, isn’t it? 2007 by Wendy Lapidus-Saltz. All rights reserved.

Is There Such A Thing As Weight Control Hypnosis? by John Osgood

Many people ask â€how can I lose weight using hypnosis†and the answer is more simple than you might imagine. Now you may be thinking â€there’s no way you can hypnotize me, and I just lose weight†and you would be 100% right, because that is not the way it works. Common misconceptions in regard to hypnosis would have a person believing that they could be hypnotized, and they would then simply follow the commands given, but it just is not that simple. It is a bit more complicated and yet so simple at the same time, if you know what I mean!

Hypnosis is not what you see on television. The television hypnotist would lead you to believe that a person who is put into a hypnotic state is asleep, when in fact they are put into a highly aware trance-like state of mind, and that is how it works with weight loss, among other things.

Hypnosis is the act of putting a person into this highly aware trance-like state, and then using the power of suggestion through subliminal messages much of the time. Hypnosis â€trains†your sub-conscious mind to follow a certain set of rules or suggestions, from there what it ultimately does is to build your will power and self determination to stick with a diet that works.

Let’s face it, people are creatures of habit, and with many over-weight people they will eat because of this habit. Hypnosis helps us to resist our habits, while we stick to our diet. Internally, or in our sub conscious mind, we believe that we have eaten plenty and we are â€fullâ€, when we couple this power of suggestion with eating in a healthy manner, we begin to slowly lose weight.

This method is a much more healthy way to diet because as your doctor will tell you, losing too much weight too fast can be just as bad as being over-weight to begin with. A good healthy diet, prescribed by your doctor or even a dietitian, coupled with a hypnosis program which is available through use of a hypnotherapist, or even on audio tapes, DVDs and CDs, can use this power of suggestion within your sub conscious mind to indicate when you have had enough to eat.

Reaching this feeling or full-up state just happens to coincide with the amount of food and calorie intake prescribed by the physician or dietitian.

There was a study conducted by researchers that included 160 overweight individuals. These people were divided into 4 equal groups, with each of the 4 groups representing a popular diet program. Each and every person lost weight on these programs, and the programs were successful when used in conjunction with a hypnosis program.

What this proves, is that the power of suggestion through the use of the hypnotic trance will keep your determination intact, and you will successfully lose weight with a proper diet and exercise program. It will also lessen the possibility of cheating or dropping your diet with the addition of hypnosis.

So to conclude, you most definitely can lose weight using hypnosis in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise, all you have to do is take the necessary steps to get the program started.

Self Hypnosis as a Problem Solving Tool by Sanjay Johari

Hypnosis is an art and a science which can be used by anyone as a tool to resolve problems. It is not a black magic and there is nothing mysterious about it.

Hypnosis works on our mind. The mind is divided into two broad categories conscious mind and subconscious mind. We use conscious mind for thinking, reasoning and rationalization. The conscious mind forms a small part of the mind.

By far the more dominating part of our mind is the subconscious mind. It has control on how we behave and think in real life. It controls our basic attitude, thinking pattern and the way we react to constant stimuli we receive all the time from outside world. It is also the repository of all life’s memories and experience.

Our success and failure are directly dependent upon the choices we make in our lives. And the choices we make are influenced by the subconscious mind. While making the choices the subconscious mind tries to re-live the past experience. Among the vast data of feelings, emotions and experience stored in the subconscious mind there will be some more dominant than others. The subconscious mind tends to create the dominant experience again and again. In a way it tries to justify that the dominant experience deserves to remain dominant.

All of us want to change for better, we want to succeed and we want to make winning a habit. But our subconscious mind will only work to reinforce its own world-view. Being dominant it will also make us behave likewise.

If subconscious mind has such a strong influence on our actions, why not harness its influencing power to get desired results?

This is where hypnosis comes in. By hypnosis it is possible to change the belief system or the world-view being held by the subconscious mind. For example, let us say that the subconscious mind thinks that I cannot speak in public. By not being able to speak in public I generate certain emotions which could be self-pity, repentance, sense of failure, feeling of getting a raw deal from the world etc. These emotions have become dominant because of my past experience in life. When I try to speak in public next time, unless I am better prepared, the chances are that I will fail miserably, evoke those feelings again and the subconscious mind will happily confirm that its belief system is intact.

By hypnosis it is possible to remove the mental inhibitions. It is possible to alter the subconscious mind’s belief system. When that happens the subconscious mind becomes a formidable force which will try to reinforce its new belief system. It will bring all the resources to justify its altered viewpoint.

Just by harnessing the power of our subconscious using hypnosis, we can remove our inhibitions which prevent us from speaking in public or behaving confidently. We can remove what we think are our limitations such as the feeling that I cannot succeed or cannot reduce weight or cannot give up smoking.

Let us face a hard fact of life. As adults we are totally responsible for our present situation in life. Most of us are not happy with what we have. We hold the entire world responsible except ourselves for the state of affairs we are in. But the fact remains that we are in the present state only, and I repeat, only because of the choices we have made in our lives. We have subconsciously allowed ourselves to believe that we cannot have a better deal. We have really reconciled ourselves with what we have and rarely attempt to cross our self-imposed boundary. But it does not have to be that way. There are ways to break free from our shell.

Now we know that ALL our problems originate from the conviction held by the subconscious mind. There is simply no other source of our problems. And it is possible to change this conviction by hypnosis. This means we have the power to resolve all our problems when we make good use of the power with us.

The scope of hypnosis is endless and can be applied to virtually any situation where we wish to improve. The art of self hypnosis can be mastered by anyone. All you need is a firm resolve to improve yourself.

Sanjay Johari contributes articles regularly to several ezines. Visit his blog to see how self hypnosis can resolve your problems.

Covert Hypnosis Undertaken with the power of persuasion and self confidence by Robert Martin

Covert hypnosis is a concept of hypnotizing someone without even their notice. It could be therapeutically used as well in hypnotherapy where patients know that they are subjected to this hypnosis but in certain other cases, covert hypnosis might have been exercised on you even without your knowledge. That is the beauty of covert hypnosis; it is executed so smoothly that it is completely undetected. When you ask someone to do something in general, the response patterns are varied but when you are well versed with techniques in covert hypnosis, with your self confidence and conversational tactics you could transit the person in a suggestibility state such that they agree to everything you say.

Covert hypnosis has not much to do with body language than it has to do with your choice of words and the tone of speech. Persuading someone to bring about an action they would think that is rather impossible (but still much within their capabilities) needs a much required confidence built in you by the person being subjected to hypnosis. Generally, a lay man might take months or years to gain someone’s confidence but a hypnotist usually needs just a few hours of hypnosis sessions to be able to persuade the subject in question to trust him enough to confide in him and accept his suggestions.

Our brain sends waves that are usually a mode of communication used by the â€super’ organ. These waves are generated in different frequencies; these waves are categorized as gamma waves (approx. 40Hz †high level of mental activity), beta waves (13-30Hz †intense concentration mode involving deep thinking and analysis), alpha waves (8-13Hz †subdued thinking, relaxed and calm state of the mind), theta waves (4-7Hz †extreme relaxed state or even day dreaming), delta waves (0.5 4Hz state of total relaxation i.e. state of sleep). Out of these phases, it’s the theta waves sent by the brain that is much favorable for covert hypnosis to take place and also where the suggestibility mode of the brain is higher. This state of the brain during theta waves being transmitted is known as the trance state.

Usually, a professional, psychotherapist and hypnotist bring a subject in the trance state by first listening keenly into their thoughts and ideas. They may even touch the person to be hypnotized to show that they empathize with them. Gradually, when the hypnotist starts conversing with the individual with the kind of stuff they want to hear, this builds an essential rapport between the hypnotist and the subject. The hypnotist then uses positive suggestibility words in soft spoken sentences and gains the listener’s confidence and slowly leads them into the trance state followed by which they start passing the message of concern to the person being hypnotized in a firm and confident manner such that it impinges on the subject’s subconscious mind and once they are out of the trance, the subconscious mind is duly programmed to carry out the message delivered into productive action for their own benefit.

The International Conversational Hypnosis was formed to spread and teach Dr. Milton Erickson’s ideas of Conversational Hypnosis. The Conversational Hypnosis website reviews the latest hypnosis courses, with a constant flow of new hypnosis articles.
