Hypnosis offers a practical and powerful way to transform unhelpful or negative habits, thoughts or behaviors so you can feel better, function better and enjoy life more. Here are some useful tips to help you prepare for your hypnosis sessions. This information will help you make the changes you want.

1. First, get a clear idea of what you want to change or enhance in your life.

This can be a habit, a behavior, an emotional reaction, or a thought pattern you want to change. If there are multiple issues, choose the most pressing one or two to focus on first. After you have decided what to work on, note how each of these issues have caused frustration, pain, difficulty or limitation for you and/or for the people around you. For each issue ask yourself, why do I want to change this? And why is it important to change this now? And if this problem remains unchanged or worsens, how will the quality of my life suffer years in the future?

2. Now, build a clear, detailed idea of how you want to be after you have made these changes.

Imagine yourself having successfully made all of the changes you want to make. How will you look? How will you interact with other people? What will this scene of success sound like? What will your thoughts be like? What will the quality of your thoughts be? How will you feel e.g., calm, safe, in control, strong, focused, relaxed, happy, excited, free, etc? How will your body feel physically? By making these changes now, how will your life be enhanced years in the future? Imagine or sense all of this as clearly as possible and build the expectation of a future you are excited about. The clearer you are about what you want to accomplish the better. If you need help gaining more clarity about this ask your hypnotist for assistance.

3. Finally, decide to close your mind to anything that can interfere with your success with hypnosis.

Once you have chosen a competent hypnotist you trust to work with, then decide to put out of your mind anything negative that will interfere with your successful changes. For example, resolve to close your mind to silly or disparaging comments by friends who may have no real knowledge or experience of hypnosis. While everyone likes to have some fun, this is a valuable opportunity for you to make significant changes in your life. Don't waste this chance! Decide now that other people's thoughtless comments will have no effect on you, then look forward to successfully making the desired changes that are so important to you.
