Positive Thinking Hypnosis

In recent years, there's been a big push for empirically supported treatments for Major Depression especially, because by the year 2020, authoritative research considers it will be the second most oppressive illness in the World. Even now, worldwide, no less than 100 million people suffer from the condition.

The research that's been conducted on therapeutic hypnosis hasn't all been empirical. Highly qualified physicians have examined the results of brain scans while people are actually hypnotized, to see how the brain re-acts. Every test has proved positive and most encouraging.

In a recent article, we gave four methods of; changing your negative self-suggestions, reducing your feelings of guilt and self-blame, helping you to begin making positive changes and shifting your perspectives on your negative experiences at the beginning of a Hypnosis session.

The point is that therapeutic Hypnosis helps you turn your subconscious from negative, damaging thoughts, and imprinting upon it positive, healthy ideas that can turn your thinking around permanently.

Clinical depression can so cripple the mind that it extends to the body, making it very difficult sometimes even to climb out of bed. Sufferers view facing the day with something akin to terror, although speaking personally I was past terror. I was more like an automaton. Once out of bed and dressed, I really didn't have a clue what to do next.

Normally, I'd end up in the sitting room and try to read. I can't remember having any actual thoughts at all. I'd decide to pick up a book. Then open it. Then turn a page, but I can't recall having any negative or positive thoughts as such. I wish so much that I'd known more about Hypnosis in those days. I do remember at some stage suggesting it to my psychiatrist, but he gave me a funny look and changed the subject!

Anyway, through Hypnosis, you're guided into shifting and lifting your moods. This is all done relatively gradually, depending on the patient, but the idea is to turn your thinking from negative, not just to positive, but firmly in a definite direction. After all, it's fine to be positive. Goodness knows, it's very necessary, but about what are you positive?

In this case, it's obvious. Being cured. The rehearsal of this coping ability is made so much easier with Hypnosis, and far more effective. These positive thoughts become implanted directly into your subconscious mind.

Hypnosis is useful, too, in uncovering any suppressed memories you may have. We all have them, but the point is we're so often unaware of them. Something big and traumatic, naturally we remember. But the small ones, the little day to day events which hurt so much at the time, have been overshadowed by bigger things and long since forgotten. It's these that are brought to the surface and dealt with.

It's a wonderful, cathartic experience. They've all played their part in your present state of depression without you realizing it. A good hypnotherapist will also teach you the great value of self-hypnosis and the ability of deep relaxation techniques.

Realizing how comfortable you feel while hypnotized, you embrace these abilities and have no hesitation in putting them into action yourself when you return home. It's impossible to say how many sessions you'll require. I've read reports where people have been completely cured by just one visit. Others take a number of visits before they find permanent relief.

Now, Hypnosis isn't the only answer, but it's an extremely good one
